Bottom Line

Located on the scenic Lapad Peninsula, the upscale Grand Hotel Park offers 244 rooms spread across a seven-story building and two annexes. All rooms have balconies, some with sea views, and those in the newer annexes house are modern and romantic, in stark contrast to the more dated units in the main building. However, rooms lack coffeemakers and past guests have complained of inadequate storage space. Hotel amenities include a free buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and free parking along with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa with two saunas, a steam bath, a fitness center, and a relaxation room. The hotel also offers two restaurants and two bars, though they are pricey. Those looking for something more intimate and closer to Old Town should consider the 13-room Hotel Kazbek instead.

Scene

A large hotel with generic and dated decor

Grand Hotel Park is set in a seven-story '70s-style building with a plain facade surrounded by a parking lot, leafy grounds, and a children's playground. Two annex buildings, which look more like villas, are located next door and house additional guest rooms. Overall, the interiors are generic and lackluster, especially for an upscale hotel. A nautical theme runs through the property, with displays of model boats and ship paraphernalia decorating the walls. Much of the furniture in the lobby looks dated and mismatched, even overdue for an update. The vast majority of guests staying here are leisure travelers, many of whom come on package holidays. The hotel is also a popular stopover with cruise ship passengers.

Location

On the Lapad Peninsula, just a few minutes' walk from the beach

Grand Hotel Park is located on the Lapad Peninsula outside of Dubrovnik's city center. There's a park area and playground in front of the hotel, and just next to it is a pleasant pedestrian street lined with cafes, bars, and restaurants. There are many other hotels in the immediate vicinity, as well as supermarkets, bakeries, and pizzerias. The bus stop is a few minutes away on foot, from where travelers can catch bus number 6 to the Old Town.

  • Six-minute walk to public bus stop

  • 31-minute drive to Dubrovnik Airport

Rooms

Mix of dated and contemporary guest rooms with balconies, many with sea views

Rooms at the Grand Hotel Park are spread across three sections: a main building and two annexes. Standard Rooms are located in the hotel's main building and are clean and well-maintained. The decor is classic but dated, featuring wood laminate floors, a soft pink-and-beige color scheme, and lino-cut prints of Dubrovnik's Old Town adorning the walls. Double glass doors open to small balconies, some of which look out over the sea. Bathrooms have walk-in massage showers, bidets, rectangular vessel sinks, toiletries, and hairdryers.

Superior Rooms are located in the two annex buildings and were refurbished more recently than those in the main building. All feature soft tones of cream and taupe, and the vibe in these rooms is more romantic thanks to the tufted headboards, satin bedcovers, white classic-look furniture, and woodgrain floor tiles. Bathrooms lack bidets, but have walk-in showers, heated towel racks, and chic oval vessel sinks.

In-room amenities common to all rooms include air-conditioning (though past guests have complained of it not working well), flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes. Coffee- and tea-making facilities aren't provided. Note that there have been complaints of insufficient storage space.

Features

Two restaurants, two bars, indoor and outdoor pools, spa

The Grand Hotel Park offers plenty of extra on-site features, including a free buffet breakfast featuring a large spread of both hot and cold dishes served each morning at the on-site Grand Restaurant. Buffet-style inner is also served here and the Marijin Dvorac restaurant has a la carte lunch and dinner menus. The hotel also features two bars. Blue Velvet is located next to the outdoor pool area and serves hot and cold drinks and light meals. Natalie serves drinks and cocktails. During the summer season, live music concerts are held here three times a week. Note that several guests have complained about high prices in the restaurants and bars.

Health features include an outdoor saltwater pool, plus lots of lounge chairs next to the pool and on the sun deck. There's also an indoor pool that's long enough for swimming laps and it's filled with heated seawater. The Grand Aroma Spa (free to access) includes a steam bath, Mediterranean and Finnish saunas, a hot tub, tropical showers, a relaxation room, and a designated children's play area. There's also a light-filled fitness area overlooking the indoor pool, which is well-equipped with cardio and weight machines. Beauty treatments and massages are also available for an extra charge.

Other on-site features include a library and internet corner, a children's outdoor playground, and a few conference rooms. A limited number of free on-site parking spaces are available for guests. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
