Bottom Line

The upscale Neptun Hotel is on a quiet corner of the Babin Kuk peninsula, a 20-minute bus ride to Dubrovnik's Old Town. Completely refurbished in 2015, the 91 rooms and suites are light-filled and tastefully decorated. Almost all have glass balconies with spectacular sea views, and all come with 40-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and electric kettles. A free breakfast buffet offering a large spread is included in rates, as is parking. The hotel shares its facilities with the adjacent luxury Ariston Hotel, which is part of the same chain. The complex has two restaurants, two bars, a wellness center, three outdoor pools, and a sizable beachfront. Travelers looking to stay in Old Town might prefer the Pucic Palace, a luxury boutique in a restored palace, though it doesn't offer a pool, spa, or fitness facilities.

Scene

Quiet, upscale beachfront hotel offering sea views

Neptun Hotel is part of a large hotel complex that includes other properties belonging to the same chain. The hotel shares its public spaces and facilities with the adjacent luxury Hotel Ariston. The complex was renovated in 2015 and has a modern vibe and many light-filled public spaces with lovely sea views. The vast lobby area has large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the waters of the Bay of Lapad and the Elaphiti Islands. The space is uncluttered, with two seating areas of white leather sofas arranged in semi-circles, and several high-backed blue armchairs strategically placed in front of the large sea-facing windows. Neptun Hotel is especially popular with couples attracted to the romantic vibe, though vacationing families are found during the summer season.

Location

On Babin Kuk peninsula, at the end of the coastal promenade

The beachfront Neptun Hotel is located next to three other hotels belonging to the same chain, on the edge of the Babin Kuk peninsula overlooking the Bay of Lapad. The hotel complex is located at the end of a coastal promenade stretching several miles along the coastline, and it's within walking distance of a few restaurants and bars. Dubrovnik's historic Old Town is about a 15-minute drive away, or 20 minutes via bus line 6, which stops a two-minute walk from the hotel. Dubrovnik Airport is about a half-hour drive from here.

Rooms

2015-renovated rooms and suites, most with sea views

Renovated in 2015, the guest rooms and suites at Neptun Hotel are light-filled, impeccably neat, and decorated in a chic, modern style featuring a color palette of soft grays and beiges. Floors are covered in gray-and-white carpeting featuring a weave pattern, while gray velour bed runners match the throw pillows. Some have headboards or armchairs in dusty teal-colored fabric for a pop of color. Elegant bedside lamps provide soft mood lighting, and framed vintage postcards decorating the walls add an interesting accent.

Most rooms have furnished glass balconies offering spectacular direct sea views. Only five Standard Rooms do not have sea views, and these are also a little cramped, with only 182 square feet (17 square meters) of floor space. The Junior and Family Suites have separate bedrooms and are ideal for families traveling with children. The biggest room is the Premium Skyline Sea View Suite with Balcony at 732 square feet (68 square meters), which sleeps up to six people and has two bedrooms with king-size beds, as well as a living area with a sofa bed.

Standard amenities include air-conditioning, 40-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, electric kettles alongside free coffee and tea, electronic safes, bathrobes, and slippers, plus irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Spacious and modern bathrooms are tiled in white, with accent walls of gray, white, and black graphic tiles. They have shower/tub combos with rainfall showerheads, towel warmers, hairdryers, and free quality toiletries. Some bathrooms are also fitted with bidets or feature large walk-in showers, while others have a second separate sink located in an alcove outside the bathroom.

Features

Two restaurants and bars, beach area, indoor and outdoor pools, and free breakfast

Neptun Hotel offers a variety of features that are shared with its sister property, the luxury Ariston Hotel. One of the highlights is a private rocky beach area, which has sunbeds and towels available free of charge. The complex also has three outdoor swimming pools, two of which are seawater pools located in the beach area, and the other an outdoor infinity pool filled with freshwater and situated next to the Wellness Center. The Wellness Center also offers an indoor pool, sauna, Turkish steam room, and fitness center equipped with weight-training and cardio machines. Guests can also book massages and health and beauty treatments here for an extra fee. During the peak summer season, children's activities are organized and a kids' club for children up to the age of 12 has a playroom and games. Babysitting services are available for an extra charge.

Included in the room rate is a breakfast buffet with a large spread of hot and cold dishes, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. This is served at the Mediterraneo restaurant, which also offers a buffet-style dinner, themed dinner nights, and live music twice a week. The other on-site restaurant, Zoe, has a covered terrace overlooking the sea, and an a la carte menu of light lunches and seafood dishes for dinner. The complex also features two bars: On The Rocks overlooks the beach area and serves drinks, coffee, and light meals, while the Neptun Bar is open for drinks throughout the day and has a free internet corner and a small library.

Other amenities include a souvenir shop and cash machine in the lobby, as well as 14 meeting rooms seating a maximum of 300 people. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the hotel, including the beach area. Parking is available on-site, and can be reserved in advance. The Guest Relations desk is available to assist guests with excursions, city tours, and transportation. The hotel also offers a laundry service and hair-styling services are available upon appointment.
