Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel is a large, grand resort that caters to mostly families and couples looking for a Red Sea beachfront vacation. From above, the property looks massive. The buildings, private beach, golf course, and lagoon-style pool cover 61 acres. The design is elegant and stately, as seen in the grand lobby with glossy floors, a cream color scheme, and a well-lit atrium. Seating areas with blue couches and chairs are well-spaced for a private feel. Though there’s a mellow piano player in the lobby during the day, this is still a relatively bustling environment with families with kids moving about at all times. Some of the restaurants are more elegant with white contemporary chairs while others are a bit dated with worn wooden chairs and faded red cushions. Take note that smoking is generally allowed in most spaces, which is common throughout Egypt. 

This property has a lovely beachfront location on the Red Sea in Hurghada, Egypt. This town is mostly filled with beach resorts, but there are some things to do in the area, like take a day trip to the lovely Shadwan Island. Restaurants and bars are within five- to 10-minute walks away. The Hurghada Grand Aquarium is a 10-minute drive away. Dolphin World takes 23 minutes to reach by car. For shopping, Senzo Mall is a 15-minute drive away. It’s only 14 minutes by car to Hurghada International Airport.

Rooms at this hotel are stately with glossy tan floors, dark wooden furniture, cream and white color schemes, ethnic printed rugs, and framed drawings on papyrus. It’s both tasteful and classic with styles varying slightly from room to room. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, kettles, minibars, and Wi-Fi for a fee (unless you book the all-inclusive option and then Wi-Fi is free). Balconies or terraces are offered in every room with mountain, pool, or sea views. Executive Rooms and Suites have free perks like spa access, minibars, and internet in the business center. Presidential Suites offer kitchenettes and Spa Suites have massage tables, saunas, and jetted tubs. Tan-tiled bathrooms are lovely with separate tubs and rain showers, toiletries, hairdryers, and bathrobes. 

There’s a full range of amenities here, most of which are geared toward families on vacation. There’s a private beach with loungers and umbrellas that’s complemented by a beach bar, sandy soccer field, and a dive center that specializes in diving, snorkeling, and water sports. The two large, lagoon-style pools have a waterfall and lazy river and one pool is filled with saltwater. There’s a children’s pool with a mushroom waterfall, and a pool bar that services the pool throughout the day. The full-service spa uses Red Sea water in their treatments which includes massages, beauty treatments, a sauna, and baths. A spacious 24-hour gym with cardio and weight equipment and aerobics classes allow guests to remain active on vacation. The hotel stands out for its nine-hole, three par golf course and putting green that overlooks the sea. 

There are nine dining options on-site. These include buffet restaurants, local and international food, cocktail bars, lounge bar, fine dining restaurant, and a hookah bar. The Tamarind Terrace provides daily live entertainment like folk or belly dancing shows. All-inclusive options are available, as is 24-hour room service. The breakfast buffet has hot and cold items and is included in the all-inclusive rate. Elements Nightclub offers music late into the morning, American cuisine, darts, and pool tables. Some of the restaurants have dress codes. 

Kids can use the kids’ club with supervised activities, playrooms, and a sizeable playground. A large chess game, pool tables, and bike rentals offer additional entertainment. Business guests can take advantage of a huge international conference center, business center (for a fee), and free Wi-Fi in the lobby (it costs extra in other areas of the hotel). Other perks include free parking, a small gift shop, and free car washes.
