Saboia Estoril Hotel occupies an attractive white building in Estoril, near the town of Cascais. Decor is a mix between modern and homey. Guests enter a fairly small, plain lobby with a large front desk across from a couch flanked by potted trees. From the lobby, guests can access a lounge area that’s serviced by a small wooden bar. The hotel was last refurbished in 2008, so it’s no surprise that there’s some wear and tear to the public spaces. This property draws mostly couples who value its proximity to the beach and the diverse on-site amenities. 

The neighborhood surrounding this hotel consists mostly of residential homes and a few restaurants and shops here and there. Still, it’s a good location with popular areas of interest within walking distance. The Cascais city center, with plenty of spots to eat and shop, is a 25-minute walk from the hotel, though guests can opt to take a train that stops a 10-minute walk away. The beach is an eight-minute walk, while Casino Estoril takes 19 minutes to reach on foot. The historic town of Sintra is an easy day trip from this hotel as it’s only a 20-minute drive away. It’s a half-hour drive to Lisbon Portela Airport.

Rooms here are snug and similar in style, but color schemes vary. The headboards, accent walls, and throw pillows all come in a single bright pop of color, like magenta, orange, or neon yellow. The result is a bright and fun atmosphere. All have bedside tables, built-in shelves, and small desks illuminated by pendant lights. Despite their cheery look, rooms show some signs of wear and tear, and past guests report cleanliness issues. Amenities include flat-screen TVs (in a range of sizes), air-conditioning, safes, and mini-fridges. Some upper-level rooms have espresso-makers.
