Scene

Charming inn with quaint, homey style and outdoor garden

For fans of all things quaint and homey, the atmosphere at the Inn at 410 Bed and Breakfast -- kicked off by the owner's warm welcome -- fits the bill. Built in 1894 and expanded over the years, the historic inn's grounds are lovely, surrounded by a low stone wall with trees, hedges, and wicker chairs on the porch for guests to take in the quiet neighborhood. Inside, the inn has a country feel that's characterized by hardwood floors and furniture, plenty of floral print drapes and fabrics, and
tapestry rugs. The warm atmosphere continues in the charming and bright breakfast area, with its lace table cloths and wooden chairs. An
open bar is set up for guests to make their own drinks, and snacks like
homemade cookies are available in the afternoon. Outside, there’s a gazebo with
hanging plants and tables and chairs for anyone looking to sip some hot cider (or wine!) in the evening. The inn mostly sees couples, though it does work for families too, and even friends on weekends away together.

Location

In quiet neighborhood, just a couple blocks from shopping and dining

Flagstaff is northern Arizona's bohemian, outdoorsy capital, and there's plenty to see and do (and eat!) within walking distance of the inn. The immediate neighborhood is quiet and residential, but the shops and restaurants of downtown Flagstaff are a three-block walk from the inn and the area is very walkable.
There’s also a restaurant and wine bar on the same block. The star of the show in this part of the state is the outdoors, though, and guests will need cars to see everything. It's a 20-minute drive to Walnut Canyon National Monument, while the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is within a 35-minute drive and the ruins at the Wupatki National Monument take an hour to reach by car. It’s a little over an
hour’s drive to Sedona, and the Grand Canyon is a 90-minute drive from the hotel. The closest major airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor International, which takes two hours and 15 minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Charming, cozy rooms with fireplaces, free Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms

The 10 rooms at Inn at 410 Bed and Breakfast have unique themes like "Sunflower Fields" or "Monet's Garden," and the look across all is a warm and charming blend of country elements and southwestern style. Decor includes ornate wallpaper, and an abundance of patterns in everything from the upholstery on the plush seating to the curtains and bedding. Between the knick-knacks and pictures, there’s a lot to look at, and some rooms can be a little busy -- particularly The Conservatory, which has boldly striped wallpaper, a canopy bed, and competing patterns in the carpeting, bedding, chairs, and drapes. That being said, the homey atmosphere is popular with the hotel's guests, and the addition of antique pieces like iron bed frames and solid wood furniture adds a handsome element. Down comforters are a nice touch, as are thoughtfully chosen books and magazines. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, DVD players, coffee machines, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Fireplaces in every room are a great perk -- especially in the winter; some have in-room hot tubs, and one has a full kitchen. Bathrooms
vary with either shower/tub combos or stand-up showers, a good amount of counter space, and toiletries, though some can be cramped. A two-bedrooms suite is available for families or guests wanting more space.

Features

Free tasty breakfast, open bar, and a DVD library

Like most small inns, there aren't an abundance of extras here, but those that are on offer add a nice bit of comfort. The free breakfast
is popular with guests and includes dishes like buttermilk blueberry
pancakes, quiche, fresh fruit, bacon, or sausage. An open bar is available as
well as snacks in the afternoon, like homemade cookies and trail mix. The garden is also a hit with visitors, and includes a terrace and gazebo. The inn has an internet corner with
one computer and a printer, and DVDs are available for guests to borrow. Parking and Wi-Fi are free, and the owner can help with plenty of local suggestions.
