During the Renaissance, the four-story building that is now Hotel Atlantic Palace was used as a convent. Today, the building has retained a few historic touches, such as its charming lanterns and brown shutters. Inside, the lobby has terra-cotta floors and a curved front desk. White leather couches and chairs are situated in the lobby under vaulted ceilings and oil paintings. A massive, blue-and-white vase over 13 feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds makes a bold statement. The hotel has a small elevator and a stairwell with wrought-iron railing. A breakfast buffet is served in a room decorated with marbled floors, table linens, and paintings in gilded frames, but harsh lighting and satin-y table skirts diminish its elegance. The property draws mostly leisure travelers and couples looking to explore Florence on foot. 

Hotel Atlantic Palace is located on a busy street in an area with a lot of hotels and plenty of restaurants. It's near Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station and less than a five-minute walk to San Lorenzo Market, an outdoor market full of vendor stalls. The Duomo can be reached by a 10-minute walk, and the Uffizi Gallery is under a 15-minute walk. The airport can be reached in under 20 minutes by car or under 40 minutes via public transportation.

Guest rooms are a mix of decorative styles including antique-style desks, slipcovered chairs, and tufted headboards; sometimes it hangs together, and other times it feels clashing. All rooms are on the small side, with plain white walls. Some have tile floors while others have hardwood, and a handful of rooms have exposed wooden beams. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, hairdryers, and free Wi-Fi, but lack coffee or tea making stations, irons, or other extras typically included at mid-range hotels. Bathrooms either have tiny corner showers or shower/tub combos. Rooms with shared or private balconies are available. Guests recommend requesting rooms at the back of the property, away from the front, which can be noisy. 

Hotel Atlantic Palace serves a free breakfast buffet with cheeses, cold cuts, and cereals. The breakfast gets mixed reviews, but guests enjoy the make-your-own pancake machine. There aren’t a lot of amenities at the hotel, but there is a small, charming bar. A meeting room is available that can accommodate up to 25 people for private events, and small pets are allowed at the hotel. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
