Wrought-iron touches at the hotel's wood-carved front door are pretty, although the property can be tricky to find with little in the way of signage. The no-frills setting is visible from the get-go, with minimal furnishings in the small lobby -- think mismatched wood and black seating. Although, there are a red tufted period chair, bookcase with free-to-borrow novels, and a mirror where guests are encouraged to take a selfie add some character. Note that there's no elevator, and the front desk isn't staffed 24/7, though access is easy with a code. Framed paintings in downstairs hallways are pretty, as the building is shared with residential apartments. The breakfast room is the only other common space, and it's a dated affair with plastic blue chairs. Loggia Fiorentina welcomes budget-minded travelers simply seeking a place to rest their head in an excellent, central location. 

The hotel's location is unbeatable, situated on a quiet street set back from the crowds, yet with major sights just minutes away on foot. The Accademia (for the famed "Statue of David") is a three-minute walk and San Marco square and convent are even closer. Florence Cathedral's Duomo is a nine-minute walk, while street food at Mercato Centrale is a seven-minute walk. Ponte Vecchio bridge and Strozzi Palace are within a 15-minute walk and the beautiful Medici Chapel is just six minutes away. The University of Florence and Santa Maria Novella train station are both a 13-minute walk, and multiple busses are a two-minute walk. Artsy, architecturally beautiful bars, cafes, and restaurants line surrounding streets. Florence Airport 30 minutes away by car or public transport.

Small rooms range from Singles to Triples, though all have no-frills decor that echoes the budget price. Clean rooms have minimal wood furniture, including old-fashioned wardrobes that add character, wood floors, and neutral walls. Orb lighting, modern artwork, and wood-slatted headboards add some contemporary elements. Rooms without en-suite bathrooms have sinks, hairdryers, and mirrors, and all units have flat-screen TVs, phones, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, and ceiling fans. However, they lack kettles and fridges, and only some get a Wi-Fi signal. Large windows and high ceilings make rooms feel brighter and bigger, and a few rooms have small balconies. Some bathrooms are more modern than others, though all are compact and have cubicle showers, daily replaced towels, and soap.

Features are limited, though expected for the budget price. The breakfast buffet (fee) consists of a simple spread of bread with Nutella, cold ham and cheeses, cereals, fruit, and yogurt, plus machine-dispensed hot beverages. The lobby's guest computer is free to use, and guests can contribute to an exchange library. On-site laundry facilities are at a fee. Reception can arrange city tours, restaurant bookings, and car rentals, and the hotel's partnership with a nearby garage provides valet parking at a fee. Wi-Fi is free in downstairs areas, and its signal extends to some rooms.
