Almond Tree Inn

From the outside, the Almond Tree Inn looks like an unassuming two-story structure shaded by tall trees and surrounded by a white picket fence. A wide brick pathway leads to the entrance. The small lobby is bright and cheery with hard wood floors and open shutter-style windows. The lush, landscaped pool area is the center of the property. Waterfalls, a tropical koi pond, and breezy cabana sitting areas set the scene for a relaxed atmosphere.

Located only a half block away from Duval Street -- where there are a myriad of shops, galleries, cafes, and bars -- the Almond Tree Inn is situated within walking distance of the main tourist attractions in Key West. The Inn’s location is perfect for guests who want to be close to all of the action, but would like a quiet retreat to escape to at night. A dessert bar called Better Than Sex is located diagonally across the street from the hotel. The Hemingway Home and Museum is two blocks away, and multiple tour companies offering boating and sightseeing trips are located on the same block.

All 22 rooms at the Almond Tree Inn have undergone a complete renovation and feature upscale furniture, tasteful beach-chic decor, and bright white linens with green throw pillows. Every room has a flat-screen TV, coffeemaker, mini-fridge/wine cooler, rain shower, and bright vibrant beach photographs on the walls. Rooms don’t have spectacular views, although some overlook the pool. Some balconies are shared, while others are more private. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the rooms and property, but can be spotty.

The Almond Tree Inn offers a relaxing atmosphere in its poolside courtyard for travelers looking to recharge their batteries before heading back out on the town. There’s a mini waterfall along one side of the pool that cascades down a mosaic-tiled wall. Another rock waterfall spills into a koi pond brimming with neon orange fish. In the morning, free breakfast is served at the outdoor bar, and there’s a free wine and beer happy hour in the afternoons. One of the few smaller-sized hotels with its own parking lot, each room is automatically assigned one space for a reduced rate.
