The self-catering rooms offer full kitchens and great views, but guests should be ready for a steep walk down to the beach. The resort's excellent beach cabana area is its stand-out feature, providing a relaxed oasis with comfortable loungers and daybeds, a bar and cafe, and games in a lovely garden.

This luxury all-inclusive resort is one of the most elegant and well-regarded hotels on the island, with 64 posh suites dotting a quarter mile of beachfront. Spice Island is a serene oasis amidst the bustling Grand Anse beach area, with clean lines, and a polished, upscale vibe that still maintains the laid-back charm of the Caribbean. The resort includes two restaurants, a beautiful spa, and a variety of activities, but peace and relaxation are also easy to find. The nice pool area is quiet and private, yet the beach -- though beautiful and clean -- is shared by locals and guests of nearby resorts. Still, on Grenada, only the Sandals LaSource can compare. 

The Lance Aux Epines Cottages offers four apartments and seven quaint cottages on a lovely, peaceful beach. The laid-back, welcoming atmosphere of this value hotel harkens to an earlier time, a time before email and social media -- as do the '70s-style buildings and slightly dated furnishings. Though it lacks resort amenities such as a pool, bar or restaurant, features like the friendly Sunday beach barbecue will make guests feel like part of the family at Lance Aux Epines.

This seven-room, upscale boutique resort features one- and two-bedroom self-catering villas in a lush, jungle-like setting. The artfully rustic villas feature natural wood finishes, beautiful, well-stocked kitchens, and -- most importantly -- picturesque decks with private hot tubs and great views. Down a steep hill, there is a spacious beachfront restaurant and bar, as well as a quiet, tranquil beach. 

This 225-room luxury all-inclusive, couples-only resort is one of the newest additions to the Sandals brand. It’s spread over a sprawling 17-acre property on the southwestern tip of the island, but all the main property features are centrally located, so it’s not difficult to find your way around. With five pools, a lovely spa and fitness center, numerous activities, and 10 restaurants, couples won’t be at a loss for things to do. It’s the romantic touches such as fire pits, gazebos, and swinging chairs on a pier looking out over the water that make the property distinctly Sandals. However the romance may stop short at long walks on the beach – the beachfront area is limited due to rough waters on this part of the island, and ocean swimming is reduced to a roped-in cove.

A bumpy back road leads to this eclectic, posh but laid-back boutique resort tucked away on a steep, leafy hillside on a peaceful, secluded beach. Laluna Hotel’s blend of Indonesian (teak daybeds, Balinese spa), Italian (pastas and wine), and breezy Caribbean elements mingle into a unique, effortless cool. The daily yoga classes, simple cottages, and organic garden help make this 16-room upscale resort the epitome of bohemian-chic.

This sprawling 212-room all-inclusive resort, spread out over 30 acres, has been a landmark name on Grenada for about two decades, and has even hosted special guests such as heads of state. With two beaches, three restaurants, games and activities, and an attractive pool complex, there’s plenty to do for families and couples alike. Over the years, however, some of the glory of this massive property has started to fade and it may now be past its heyday. It meets upper-middle-range, not luxury, standards. 

The Gem Holiday Beach Resort is one of the older properties in the area, and is hasn’t quite adjusted to modern hotel standards. But with a friendly vibe and just 16 rooms, it has a cozy atmosphere for a budget hotel. It offers one- and two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and lovely ocean views, though the furniture and furnishings don’t appear to have been updated anytime recently. There is a casual restaurant and bar, but the highlight of the property is its location right on the beautiful, tranquil Morne Rouge beach.

The highlight of the mid-range Flamboyant Hotel and Villas are its stunning views, peeking out from a hillside overlooking the beloved Grand Anse beach. Guests should be ready for a climb though, as the rooms are located up several steps on a steep incline. This friendly, laid-back, 67-room hotel offers good value, and features include a large pool, three restaurants, and a lovely stretch of beach. However, the buildings are a bit tired and the rooms and common areas could use some updates.
