The JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi occupies a massive ultra-modern glass-fronted building located on the edge of a man-made lake. Completed in 2013, the building has nine levels, with a section on the top for the swimming pool that juts out at an angle. The unusual shape of the building was inspired by a dragon, one of Vietnam's national symbols. Thanks to the large windows, the hotel's spacious public spaces are filled with lots of natural light. The high-ceilinged lobby has shiny white marble walls and black marble floors, and is furnished in a minimalist style, with just a few white contemporary-style armchairs and sofas arranged in sitting areas. A hanging installation of amber-hued tear-shaped glass crystals creates an interesting decorative display above the stairwell. Overall, this is a polished luxury hotel that mainly attracts business travelers drawn to its proximity to the National Convention Center. Some leisure travelers also choose to stay here, but the hotel's location isn't convenient for visiting tourist attractions and the pool is better for swimming laps than entertaining kids.

JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi is located next to a lake in the city's business district. The hotel is part of the campus of the National Convention Center of Vietnam. There are a few shops and restaurants located in the immediate vicinity, but no tourist attractions are nearby. There's a bus stop that's an eight-minute walk away and serves several lines.

Guest rooms at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi are spacious. They start at 516 square feet (48 square meters) and accommodate a maximum of three guests. The spaces are chic and contemporary, with sophisticated decor and lots of natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. The color palette is made up of earthy tones of brown, white, and beige: floors are covered in dark hardwood, and the furniture is made of dark wood grain with beige marble tops. The distressed brown leather desk chairs, easy chairs, and benches add to the casually elegant vibe, with contemporary-style lamps completing the look. Some rooms have scenic lake views, while others look over the campus of the National Convention Center, with glimpses of the city skyline further beyond.

The large and luxurious bathrooms are tiled in light beige marble and feature a glass partition that can be closed off with a screen door. All bathrooms are fitted with freestanding bathtubs with spray jets and separate showers with rainfall showerheads. Aromatherapy Associates luxury toiletries, hairdryers, bathroom scales, and magnifying mirrors are included.

All of the rooms and suites are equipped with the usual amenities expected of a luxury hotel: air-conditioning, minibars, coffee- and tea-making facilities, safes, and ironing facilities. The in-room technology does not disappoint: 42-inch flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and iPod docking stations with Bose sound systems. In-room Wi-Fi, however, is charged extra. Bathrobes and slippers are available in every room. Other extras include free newspapers on request and an evening turndown service. 

Guests staying in the Executive Rooms and Suites have access to the Executive Lounge where they can enjoy a free continental-style breakfast every morning, as well as snacks, drinks, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi offers its guests a variety of dining options and recreation facilities, as well as features catering to business travelers. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, JW Cafe has a menu of international dishes served buffet-style and a la carte, which includes Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and Mediterranean fare. The breakfast buffet features a large spread of hot and cold dishes, and is charged extra. The French Grill is open for dinner and offers a menu of seafood, a private dining room, a walk-in wine cooler, and an open kitchen -- the largest in the city. Crystal Jade Palace serves a lunch and dinner of authentic Cantonese cuisine, and has six private dining rooms and three outdoor patios overlooking the lake. The large Lobby Lounge is open throughout the day, and is a popular place for guests to relax and enjoy a hot or cold drink, snack, or afternoon tea. Open in the evenings, Antidote is the on-site bar serving drinks and snacks.

Guests staying in Executive Rooms and Suites have access to the Executive Lounge, where a free continental-style breakfast is served in the mornings, as well as snacks, drinks, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. These guests can also use the free business services and Wi-Fi in the business center, and a free ironing service for three garments per day. 

The recreation facilities include a large indoor pool and hot tub (with 360-degree cityscape views), a spa offering beauty and massage treatments, and a sauna. The 24-hour fitness center is spacious and exceptionally bright thanks to large floor-to-ceiling windows. It's well-equipped with several LifeFitness treadmills, cardio and weight machines, free weights. There's a large open space for stretching or yoga.

The on-site meeting facilities cover a total area of 24,251 square feet (2253 square meters), and include 17 meeting rooms and two ballrooms with seven-meter-high ceilings (23 feet) and crystal chandeliers. Wi-Fi is free in public areas of the hotel. Parking is available on-site free of charge. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus service to Hanoi's Old Town.
