Making good on its name, the Airport Honolulu Hotel is located less than a half-mile from the Honolulu International Airport. Its close proximity to the airport draws business travelers and those with overnight layovers who need functional rooms but few frills. The rooms have some useful amenities (including flat-screen TVs and microwaves), but they are quite small and have some of the worst views in Honolulu. Owned by the Hawaii-based Outrigger Enterprises Group, which operates several other hotels in Waikiki, this property doesn't bill itself as anything more than a convenient stay for those travelers who need to be close to the airport.

The restaurant has a daily breakfast but keeps an odd dinner schedule that's inconvenient for weekday guests. Business travelers and those with overnight layovers in need of the basics will find that the dated rooms have useful amenities, including mini-fridges and microwaves, along with some of the least appealing views in Honolulu. The nearby Airport Honolulu Hotel tends to have slightly cheaper rates for nearly the same amenities. 

This 119-room budget hotel is tucked away on an urban block near Honolulu International Airport. Guest units are small and basic with no coffeemakers; some also don't have mini-fridges. The property does have an outdoor pool, and guests may find the on-site dive bar and Chinese restaurant worthwhile. The Pacific Marina Inn is more dated than both the nearby Best Western Plaza Hotel and the Airport Honolulu Hotel, but travelers who just need a layover room with a free airport shuttle shouldn't overlook this option since rates are considerably cheaper.
