Bottom Line

The 180-room Invisa Hotel La Cala is a quiet, upper-mid-range, adult-only hotel located in central Santa Eulalia, a short walk from two nice beaches and lots of restaurants and shops. Rooms are homey and well-equipped, with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, electric kettles, balconies, and ceiling fans -- but there are a couple of pesky fees, including for Wi-Fi and for use of the safe. The outdoor pool is a little small for the size of the hotel, and some guests have pointed out that loungers are a scarce commodity during peak season, but the pool deck is a relaxing spot for a quiet morning in the sun. Other hotel highlights include a solid buffet, a small spa, and a well-equipped (but tiny!) fitness center. Those considering going all-inclusive may want to compare rates at Palladium Hotel Don Carlos.

Invisa Hotel La Cala

Scene

A laid-back adult-only hotel in quiet Santa Eulalia

This 180-room upper-mid-range hotel is a popular pick among couples looking to relax in the sun. Decor is generic throughout, and both common spaces and rooms have a mix of modern elements and touches that are a little past their prime. The lobby is airy, with gleaming cream-colored floors, bright red and purple couches, and a lobby bar with a piano and outdoor seating space. Rooms have a more classic style, with old-fashioned carpets, thin bedspreads with delicate blue patterns, and simple furniture. Suites offer a bit more style and nice perks, such as Nespresso machines and jetted tubs.

The amenities offered here are no different from most other mid-range hotels in Ibiza, but the adult-only policy and the spa are the hotel’s best selling points. Also, unlike at many other nearby hotels, all-inclusive meal plans are not available here, which makes Invisa Hotel La Cala a little quieter than some comparable properties.

Location

A short walk from the beach in quiet Santa Eulalia

This hotel is located on a lively street a block from the marina and Santa Eulalia’s promenade. There are several restaurants, bars, and shops within a couple of blocks, and a few more directly on the promenade. Santa Eulalia’s main beach can be reached on foot in about five minutes, and there are a couple of other nice stretches of sand both east and west of the hotel, also within walking distance. Ibiza Town can be reached by car in 20 minutes, and party areas such as Playa d’en Bossa and Sant Antoni de Portmany are a 25- to 30-minute drive away. The drive to the airport takes about 25 minutes.

Rooms

Bright rooms with balconies, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs

The hotel’s 180 rooms are not particularly luxurious -- and some details (such as the carpets) could definitely use an update -- but clean surfaces, and simple yet well-maintained wooden furniture, make even Standard units pleasant and homey. Room amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and electric kettles with free tea -- but no free coffee. As is the norm in most mid-range properties on Ibiza, there are a couple of pesky fees, including for Wi-Fi and for use of the in-room safe. Suites are more stylish and contemporary, with accent walls (either with striped wallpaper or a solid color such as matte silver), matching pillows and bed runners, padded headboards, and a few ornaments. Additionally, suites also feature a separate living area with the nice addition of a Nespresso machine, an extra flat-screen TV, and a sofa bed. Bathrooms in all rooms are clean and nice, with cream-colored tiles and burgundy ceiling moldings, shower/tub combos, and hotel-brand toiletries; suites have jetted tubs. One highlight of all rooms is the balcony, which lets in ample natural light and has at least a couple chairs for relaxing outdoors.

Features

A pool, a spa, a buffet restaurant, and a fitness center

Although small and featuring only a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam room, and a treatment cabin, the spa at Invisa Hotel La Cala is a welcome extra that not all other mid-range properties in Ibiza offer. The pool is small for a hotel this size and the deck around it can only hold one row of loungers, but up some steps from the main deck guests can find additional seating space. Still, there aren’t enough for all guests, which seems to be a common complaint, especially during peak season and when one side of the pool becomes blanketed in shade. With four high-tech machines, the fitness center is a good spot for a quick workout, but the space is tiny and some may find it claustrophobic. The restaurant serves a plentiful buffet for breakfast and dinner, and La Cala Bar offers snacks and cocktails poolside. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby, but there is a pesky fee for in-room Internet access.
