Though it has an immaculately whitewashed facade, the exterior of the THB Ocean Beach doesn't reflect its hip, chic interiors. Inside, the lobby is an uber-cool combo of sleek backlit lines, polished floors, and funky furnishings such as red lip-shaped sofas and reclaimed industrial junk. The property is centered around a  semi-circular atrium and a glass elevator, while a pair of bumper cars add to the quirky vibe. Each guest room door sports a large barcode and every floor glows its own color -- making for a moody ambience, although it's a bit dark. At the back of the hotel is a stylish sun terrace with a heart-shaped pool and sea views. Clientele at this adult-only hotel consist of young couples and groups, particularly thanks to the Ocean Beach Club next door.

This hotel overlooks the south end of the bay -- the quieter side of the popular resort of San Antonio. While it's set away from the buzzing center, there's still a variety of restaurants and bars a short stroll away -- and the popular Ocean Beach Club is next door. There is also a supermarket within a 5-minute walk for stocking the in-room mini-fridges. The livelier parts of San Antonio, which include the party areas of West End and the Sunset Strip -- renowned for late night festivities -- are around 10 minutes away by cab. Ibiza Town and its airport are both a 20-minute drive away.

The contemporary vibe continues into the hotel's 63 rooms, which feature acrobat murals, minimalist furnishings, and wooden floors. Refurbishments after our visit included new curtains and pieces of furniture. Though colorful and well-presented, they're a bit bare given the high rates. Nonetheless, all rooms open to furnished terraces or balconies, many overlooking the pool and some with bay views (though others look out to neighboring building). Amenities are adequate and consist of mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs, while suites add tea- and coffee-making facilities. Bathrooms are small but modern, with walk-in showers, wall-mounted hairdryers, and hotel-brand toiletries. Blackout curtains are geared toward late-night revelers catching up on sleep.

As many guests are party-focused, it's no surprise that most activity centers around the pool terrace and adjacent beach club. The heart-shaped pool has regular, popular parties, and is surrounded by ample loungers and an adjacent whirlpool tub with sea views. Guests also have free access to the neighboring Ocean Beach Club (when booked through the hotel website), which is one of the hottest party spots in town. There are also a small gym and grassy lawn with wooden loungers. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Breakfast is a highlight at the hotel, with a choice of five options (Spanish, English, Nordic, champs, and healthy) served in the airy, modern restaurant with an outdoor terrace. Breakfast is not included in the standard rate, but the service goes until late. The a la carte restaurant also serves tapas throughout the day and a range of dishes for dinner. Additionally, there's a futuristic bar with colorful stools serving snacks and cocktails.
