Liostasi Ios Hotel is well-suited to couples looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting. Short white buildings and stone walls blend perfectly into the surrounding traditional town. Well-tended trees and flowers add to the natural feel and help to create a serene atmosphere. Decor is an eclectic mix of antiques, found art, and modern elements. Old watering cans, pots, and lanterns decorate outdoor spaces, while other items are creatively repurposed, like troughs transformed into light fixtures. In the same space, contemporary artwork and a few bold patterns stand out against the neutral canvas of white tile and light-colored stone. Inside, a white backdrop is dressed up with black, green, and natural wood accents. A cozy sectional sofa (with a different pattern on each section) and two white poufs around a pewter table create a lovely sitting area next to a lifelike dog statue and a driftwood room divider. Guests love this hotel’s relaxing atmosphere and the quality, friendly service provided by the staff. 

Liostasi Ios Hotel is on the western coast of the Greek island of Ios, on a hill overlooking the harbor. It is a seven-minute walk to Chora, an area of narrow, pedestrianized streets with bars and restaurants where guests can find an active night life. Chora also offers an archaeological museum detailing the history of the area. From the hotel, it is a three-minute drive to a popular strip of beach and the harbor’s restaurants and shops. It is a 30-minute drive to the supposed tomb of the great poet Homer, situated on the top of a hill with a stunning view, for those interested in the hike. The island does not have an airport. The nearest would be Santorini Airport, from which it is a 20-minute drive to the Santorini Port to reach Ios, and then a three-minute drive to the hotel. 

Standard rooms are well-appointed with a minimalist design. Light-green painted trim, a few gray accents, and ocean-themed art add touches of color in the primarily white rooms. Wood chairs, nightstands, and a table also break up the white design. There is little embellishment, but a quality mattress, twice-daily maid service, robes and slippers, and soundproof windows add comfort. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, minibar, and a free safe. Bathrooms are also white, with a line of green tile trim around the room. A shower/tub combo has a handheld showerhead and a partial glass wall. A hairdryer is provided, and free Aptiva toiletries include soap, shower gel, and shampoo. 

Family suites have a master bedroom and a separate living area with a double or single sofa bed, for up to four people. Upgraded rooms offer high-end options like pillow menus, king-size beds, rainfall showerheads, Bluetooth speakers, smart TVs, and Nespresso machines. Some rooms are clustered around an exclusive shared pool, and some have an individual private pool.

Though limited, quality amenities are offered here. The well-reviewed Grandma’s Restaurant has an excellent free breakfast buffet which includes traditional Greek items like local breads, olives, cheeses, and a homemade pie of the day. Lunch and dinner are available a la carte and include a selection of freshly caught fish and lobster. A beautiful pool is surrounded by wooden loungers with black cushions, sitting under black umbrellas. A large, outdoor whirlpool sits above the pool and an adjacent pool bar serves cocktails and light snacks. The entire space has a gorgeous view of the village, seaside, and distant mountains. There’s also a second, exclusive pool for guests of the villas higher up the property, also with a stunning view. Spa services are available on an outdoor terrace with massage tables and a whirlpool. The fitness room is tiny, with two cardio machines and a few weight training benches. An open-air movie theater serves snacks and drinks during shows. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
