In keeping with its name, Teton Mountain Lodge's 145 condo-style rooms and common areas have a distinct mountain-lodge vibe. If the rooms weren't amply supplied with up-to-date amenities such as flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and new appliances in the kitchens, you might feel as if you were staying in your own remote log cabin. Being that most nearby restaurants and bars are expensive, the full kitchens in most rooms (all but the Lodge Room) help to combat the high prices. The whole hotel is cozy, including the beautiful lobby, with its two tall, towering stone fireplaces and exposed wooden beams. All guests have full access to the Solitude Spa facilities: two pools, five Jacuzzis (great for sore post-ski muscles), steam rooms, and a nicely equipped fitness center.

The Snake River Lodge's multi-room condos with kitchenettes are convenient for families, and its Teton Village location is a two-minute walk to the chairlifts. The rooms swap the standard alpine theme that other area hotels tend to overdo for basic carved wood furniture, comfortable beds and (in some cases) gas fireplaces. The indoor/outdoor pool and Jacuzzi -- open year-round -- is another family-friendly perk.

Set in a wildlife refuge more than 700 feet above the Jackson Valley, the Spring Creek Ranch has arguably the most stunning views of the Tetons in the area. It has a wide array of room categories, from standard hotel rooms to immense two-bedroom condos (great for families), but the quality and design of each unit varies greatly, making it a game of hit-or-miss. While some condos are ultra-luxurious in every possible way, others are plain and come with more basic amenities. Most standard hotel rooms are in need of an urgent renovation. The delicious, popular restaurant and the excellent heated outdoor pool are not to be missed, though.

The 89-room Lexington at Jackson Hole Hotel & Suites offers clean, spacious rooms with a decent number of free perks. Although designs are fairly ordinary, with off-white walls, some tube TVs, and standard furnishings that could use updating, this hotel's strengths lie in its convenient location in Jackson and its personal touches, such as the homemade cookies served in the afternoon. The Lexington offers other conveniences, too, including the free airport shuttle and free ski shuttle. The hotel lacks facilities, though, with just one small pool and no spa or restaurant. But with its great location, there's still plenty to do within a short walk.

Originally built as condos, The White Buffalo Club has a luxurious, apartment-like feel. Rooms are large, and a number come with two king beds; rollaway beds are available for rooms with a single king bed. Suites come with kitchens -- great for families who prefer to dine in and save money on food -- and all rooms have washer/dryers and large flat-screen TVs. However, as a small property (there are only 17 rooms) and there is no pool or Jacuzzi; the hotel also often closes the restaurant early, and there is no room service.
