The Mitsis Norida looks fairly bland from the outside and in the lobby -- low-rise building with generic white stucco -- but the best part of the property is past the front doors. The whole property was renovated in 2012 and is superbly maintained, with beautiful grounds criss-crossed with pathways and dotted with palms. The beach is about 30 seconds from some of the bungalows (though others are quite far from the main building) and the water is crystal clear. Guests here can also head to the Mitsis Rameria Beach Hotel in Kos Town proper and use those facilities for free. Lots of kids and families stay here, so those looking for an adult-focused vacation might be disappointed with just one child-free bar on the property. Those who want to keep it kids-free will have to turn to Aqua Blu Boutique Hotel + Spa in Kos Town proper.

Kos Airport is 15 minutes away by taxi, but the harbor for onward travel is 40 minutes by taxi.

Each of the property's 455 rooms, scattered between the main building and 25 white-and-cobalt bungalows, are simply decorated in a mostly traditional Greek style -- think lots of white, light blues, and florals. Though comfortable, the rooms are a bit dated and beginning to show wear, which is somewhat surprising given the 2012 renovation. Rooms have views of the hotel's gardens or the ocean from the furnished balconies and large terraces -- not surprisingly, the sea view is worth it. Some of the bungalows are quite far away from the main building, so if that's a concern, it's best to request a room in the main building when booking.
The marble bathrooms vary in size between rooms, with some guests complaining that theirs were far too small. There's plenty of counter space, and each comes with shower/tub combos, slippers, and Olivia toiletries. Each room has a TV with satellite channels, but some of the TVs are old tube-style and only one channel is available in English (news). Staff refills mini-fridges every two days, though there isn't much in them to begin with. There aren't any tea- or coffee-making facilities in the rooms. Safes are available for an extra charge.

There are also two tennis courts, beach volleyball, water polo, and basketball available. Canoes, pedal boats, and windsurfers are also available to guests for free. There's even a tiny traditional church on-site.
An open-air theater holds up to 700 people and hosts excellent shows by the animation team, as well as an on-site disco (the karaoke is worth skipping, however). Programming for teens and kids, including plays, crafts, and clubs by age group, as well as a restaurant and disco just for kids, help make this property particularly family-friendly.
