The hotel is situated on well-tended grounds, with trees, an expansive lawn, and covered picnic tables. Guest rooms and public spaces are housed in two rustic-style buildings with outdoor corridors, and there's a drive-up entrance to the main building. The interiors have a fairly nondescript chain-hotel look, but the breakfast room gets ample natural light, and there's a cozy lobby with a fireplace and big-screen TV. With its abundance of large rooms and suites, solid crop of outdoor amenities, and proximity to area amusement and water parks, this is a particularly convenient spot for families with children. The hotel also draws its share of couples. 

The BEST WESTERN of Lake George is set on a hill off of Interstate 87, just west of the main road that runs into the village. The village and beach, Lake George Battlefield Park, and Fort William Henry Museum (featured in “Last of the Mohicans” movie) are all within a five-minute drive of the hotel. In town, there's plenty of dining and shops, plus Adirondack Winery and Shepard Park. Several amusement parks are within a short walk or drive: Water Slide World water park is one minute by car or about seven minutes on foot, Magic Forest family fun park is a two-minute drive, and Six Flags Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom is a little more than a five-minute drive. It's roughly a 20-minute drive to Prospect Mountain, and to Fort Edward's bus and Amtrak station. Albany International Airport is 45 minutes by car, and driving to Albany takes a little less than an hour. 

The 87 guest rooms have traditional, dated decor, with floral-print bedskirts and throws, fussy drapes, and mismatched carpeting and upholstery. But units are spacious and comfortable, and all come well-equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, and some units open to shared balconies. Suites (some with lofts) feature seating areas with sofa beds and fireplaces, and the Ultra Suite has a washer/dryer and full kitchen with a four-burner stovetop, full-size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cookware, and tableware. Bathrooms are basic but they're generally well-maintained, and all have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. 

There's a nice assortment of amenities for a budget property here, including several freebies. The outdoor freeform swimming pool is seasonal and unheated, but it's large, and there's also a small, heated indoor pool with a hot tub. While the hotel lacks a full-service restaurant, a free breakfast buffet is offered that gets favorable reviews, with eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, and a wide range of cold items. There's also microwave for guest use, and free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and popcorn. 

There's no fitness center, but the hotel offers free passes to a nearby public gym. Other amenities include a coin-op laundry, 24-hour front desk, public computer and printer, ATM, vending machines, covered picnic tables, and video games. Free on-site parking, including space for large vehicles, is available, and there's free Wi-Fi throughout. The hotel has no elevator, so guests with limited mobility might want to consider requesting a ground-floor room.
