Apartamentos THe Morromar feels like a small traditional Lanzarote village, with dozens of two-story buildings with white façades and clay-tile steps, stone paths lined with palm trees, flowers, and cacti, and little shaded squares with a few tables and chairs. It is a busy hotel popular with families seeking a good value, and the main pool area and restaurant can be loud. However, there is also a smaller, quieter pool for those looking to enjoy a peaceful day in the sun. Though the lobby is basic and fairly no-frills, a skylight and large windows make the sparsely furnished space bright and sunny, while a brown wall adds some style. On a lower floor, a foyer with some plastic chairs, a fountain, and bright blue walls gives access to the restaurant.

Those with special mobility requirements may want to note that there are lots of steps in some areas.

The hotel is located in a hilly area just outside central Puerto del Carmen. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within a few blocks, and the promenade is just down the street. Matagorda Beach, a nice stretch of sand with some rocks, is an easy walk away, and Pocillos Beach can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. The property is a five-minute drive west of the airport, but aircraft noise doesn’t seem to be a big issue.

The hotel has 221 units in three different categories: Studios, One-Bedroom Apartments, and two-bedroom Family Apartments. All have kitchenettes with cooktops, microwaves, toasters, electric kettles, sinks, and mini-fridges as well as spacious balconies offering ocean views or overlooking the grounds. Decor varies, but is generally basic and cheerful, with a few units adding unique decorative touches like oversized dragonfly decals and postcard wallpaper. Some apartments have aquamarine floor tiles, a beachy blue, yellow and aquamarine color scheme throughout, and white wooden furniture. Other units have wooden floors and a largely neutral color scheme. Amenities are basic in all units and include flat-screen TVs, generic toiletries, and hairdryers. Extras such as Wi-Fi and safes incur daily fees. Fans can be rented at the front desk, but note that there is no air-conditioning anywhere in the hotel.

The hotel has two outdoor pools, each with a distinct atmosphere. The larger, free-form one has a separate kiddy section, a bridge, and a bar, and is generally busy and loud, with group activities taking place during the day and children running around. Those looking for a quieter experience can head to the smaller pool, which is generally more relaxing. Snacks are offered a few hours a day at the snack bar adjacent to the main pool, and drinks can be ordered throughout the day. Main meals are served at the buffet restaurant, and the space can get loud and busy at peak times. Those willing to cook in their apartment can buy all the basics at the on-site supermarket, although some items may be more expensive than at local shops. At night, the main bar offers live shows and drinks. Additionally, the hotel offers a kids’ club (for ages 5  to 12) and a playground. Those looking to stay active can rent the paddle and multi-sports courts or get a full workout at the gym (for an added fee).
