Housed in several low white buildings surrounded by serene gardens dotted with palm trees, La Penita is a value property with a friendly and quiet atmosphere. Everything here is no-frills, from the common areas to the rooms to the services, but the hotel is kept clean and tidy, and rates are low year-round. The lobby is basic but feels fresh, with white floor tiles, white walls, and a small artificial garden with black volcanic stones and plants. There are a couple of seating areas with dark furniture that stands out against the all-white surfaces, while the front desk sits in front of a white wall studded with little niches that hold green plants in cute orange flower pots. Overall, though this is a fairly simple property, it offers a comfortable vacation on the cheap and attracts families as well as couples.

The hotel is located a block from the promenade and a tiny, rocky beach. Larger, sandier beaches can be found a 10-minute walk in either direction along the promenade. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within a few blocks of the property, and a bus stop can be found just down the street. Timanfaya National Park, home to several volcanoes, is a 20-minute drive away, and the airport can be reached in about 10 minutes.

Orange-and-red striped bedspreads match couches and armchairs and are complemented by similarly colored paintings adorning the white walls.
