This area also houses a large, open kitchen featuring a communal breakfast table, wide farm sink, and stainless steel appliances. This cheerful and cozy vibe continues out to the side courtyard, a high-walled sliver of space in the sun just wide enough to fit a few wrought-iron bistro tables. Overall, the homey atmosphere, attractive colorful decor, and city views from some rooms make this an excellent boutique stay for travelers who don't mind sacrificing a few typical hotel features. 

A Casa das Janelas com Vista is located on a residential road in Lisbon's Barrio Alto neighborhood. Though the immediate area is quiet, guests are just a quick, four-minute walk from several bars and restaurants, including the BA Wine Bar. Barrio Alto is a laid-back bohemian artist neighborhood within walking distance to the hip culture found in the neighboring area of Chiado. Expect narrow streets dressed in graffiti, quiet daytime hours, lively nights, and tons of Fado houses hidden behind the doors of this neighborhood's colorful buildings. The Lisbon Portela Airport is a 28-minute car ride away. Nearby attractions include:

Like most lodging in Lisbon, rooms tend to be a bit cramped, especially around the bed, though Standard Rooms receive the most complaints. Smooth, cream-painted walls are mostly left bare aside from the usually singular one-color framed art print. Wardrobes are left unfinished in a natural pale-pink wood, while darker color schemes are in the sleek and modern bathrooms. Bathrooms come with rainfall showerheads in standing glass showers, toiletries, hairdryers, and bidets. Wi-Fi is free and there are also air-conditioning, free bottled water, and safes, but no mini-fridges. Note that TVs must be requested in advance. Some rooms have small balconies with city or river views. 

Don't expect a ton of bells and whistles at this small, guest house property. However, those who appreciate thoughtful details may find the limited features at A Casa das Janelas com Vista just fine. The standout feature here is the daily, fresh-made breakfast, served up buffet-style on the kitchen's long communal table. Guests rave about the spread; fresh jams, homemade pastries, scrambled and made-to-order eggs, cereals, coffee, and tea. If you find yourself hungry or thirsty later in the day or night, the kitchen is open and equipped for making free coffee and tea -- and sometimes leftover baked goods from breakfast. In the evenings, guests can buy drinks from the kitchen area and choose a seat in the lounge, crack open a book, or grab a board game. There are also a reception and concierge desk, laundry service, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
