Housed in an older, traditional-style building, the Vincci Baixa has the look of a high-end boutique. The walls in the lobby are painted a rich reddish orange and there’s a welcoming lounge area with dark brown Chesterfield sofas. The hotel bar has the feel of a sophisticated living room, with leather armchairs, a couch upholstered in black-and-gold floral fabric, and boxy shelves crammed with books. The Tapas & Friends restaurant is a mix of traditional and trendy, the arches lined with patterned plates and white and gold cylindrical light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. Overall, the design is well curated, and the property attracts a mix of travelers.

As its name implies, the hotel is in Lisbon’s Baixa district, a popular tourist area with an artistic vibe and plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. It’s a short two blocks from Rua Augusta, a busy street with lots of outdoor cafes, and from the Rua Augusta Arch, a stone monument to the city's reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. The Praca Do Comercio, a riverside plaza with outdoor cafes and shops, is a two-minute walk. It’s also a 10-minute walk to the Alfama neighborhood, with a maze of narrow streets. It’s less than five minutes to the Lisbon Cathedral, and a 15-minute walk to the Castelo de São Jorge. The Lisbon Portela Airport is a 20-minute drive or 30 minutes by bus.

Vincci Baixa's 66 rooms have chic decor in shades of white, gray, and black, including gray floral wallpaper on the walls behind the beds. There are a few black-and-white photographs of Lisbon buildings adorning the walls as well. Bathrooms are behind mirrored doors and have dark green tiles; long, sleek white vanities with double sinks; and glass-walled stall showers. While nicely appointed, the rooms are a bit narrow and the walls are on the thin side, and hearing noise from neighboring rooms is a common complaint. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and espresso machines, along with hairdryers and toiletries in the bathrooms. 

The Tapas & Friends restaurant serves a buffet breakfast with a good variety of foods, including gluten-free items, and later turns into a dinner spot, with tapas and larger dishes. The hotel bar serves drinks in a sophisticated, clubby atmosphere. A laptop is available for guests to use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. There are laundry services, a tour desk, and car rentals available on-site, but no business or fitness centers.
