The hotel occupies a traditional brick building with white trim, set on a leafy stretch of a four-lane road in West London. Similarly well-kept, classic facades behind elegant wrought-iron gates line the road. Once inside, the feeling is immediately fresh and modern. Sunlight from wide windows streams into the small lobby, which is painted white with bright orange and cool gray accents. There's a front desk, but not much of a sitting area -- just a simple orange chair along with a leafy potted plant, a flat-screen TV, and a small white shelf lined with books. There are a couple of vending machines and a shelf filled with tourism brochures in a small hallway leading to the stairwell -- but there's no elevator. The hotel attracts tourists on a strict budget, and as there's nothing on offer here other than a place to sleep, most guests tend to be out exploring the city during the day. 

The hotel is in West London, south of Kensington and north of Chelsea. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants over on Earls Court Road, a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The shops on King's Road, restaurants and boutiques of Chelsea, and leafy Kensington -- home to the Natural History and Science Museum, Kensington Palace, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Olympia Exhibition Centre -- are all within a 25-minute walk of the hotel. Earl's Court tube station is a five-minute walk from the hotel; from here, guests can reach Heathrow Airport in 35 minutes and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament in 15 minutes.

Guest rooms have the same color scheme as the lobby; they feature heather-gray curtains, crisp white bedding, bright orange accents, and pale-orange-patterned walls. Room types include Small, Standard, Twin, and Special Needs, and all are available with or without windows -- note that the double-glazed windows don't open. Each room has either a double or two single beds, one towel per person, and bedding, but other than wall hooks and small mirrors, rooms are unfurnished. Guests can pay extra to use the flat-screen TV or Wi-Fi and both housekeeping and additional towels cost extra. Bathrooms are tiny, with walk-in showers, small sinks, and toilets. Heating and cooling are controlled by the front desk, and some guests have complained of rooms being too hot or cold, or poorly ventilated. 

The hotel's safe, convenient setting and low prices are its greatest (and only) assets. Otherwise, there's not much on offer here. Luggage storage costs extra, as does Wi-Fi, and there are computer terminals in the lobby that guests can use for a fee. The lobby also has vending machines with tea and coffee, soft drinks, and snacks.
