In a modern brick building with plenty of darkened glass, the Leonardo doesn’t display much character from the outside, but inside it's a different story. The lobby combines checked black-and-white flooring with leather armchairs and an artificial
fireplace. And it plays up its name, with Leonardo Di Vinci paintings on the splashback behind the long, gray front desk with pink LED lighting that feels over the top -- but the overall effect is gaudy rather than artistic. Hallways are more subdued; gray walls sport framed prints, purple carpets have brown patterned runners, and large windows let in plenty of light. The large restaurant is pleasant, too, with contemporary neutral seating, London-themed prints, and
modern gray patterned carpet. And the bar has chic cream leather tub seats in a tasteful setting.

Located adjacent to Heathrow Airport, the Leonardo is a five-minute drive or eight-minute bus ride from the terminals (free bus services ply the route; the hotel also sells shuttle bus tickets). The hotel has a relatively isolated position on a busy road, with office buildings and other large hotels nearby. That means there’s little to do in the immediate area, although there are pubs, a supermarket, and a gas station within walking distance.
Nearby attractions include Stockley Park, an eight-minute drive or 27 minutes on public transportation, and the Bedfont Lakes Business Park, a 16-minute drive or 38 minutes by bus. Thorpe Park is an 11-minute drive away, while Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures are 17 and 28 minutes away by car, respectively. Kew Gardens and Windsor Castle are a 16-minute drive away, while Hampton Court Palace is about a 24-minute drive from the hotel, or about an hour away on public transportation. From the airport, the nonstop Heathrow Express train service reaches central London’s Paddington station in 15 minutes. Gatwick Airport is about a
40-minute drive from the hotel, and London City Airport is about an hour taxi ride.

The Leonardo’s 230 rooms are spacious, contemporary, and cozy. Large, comfortable beds have modern wall-length headboards. Built-in bedside tables have elegant lamps, and the gray-patterned
carpet, which matches the walls and sofas, is appealing. Rooms also have large built-in desks, but the small windows are a letdown. Standard Double and Triple Rooms are identical, except the latter has three single beds and feels more compact. Executive Rooms switch out the sofas for single armchairs. Large bathrooms have off-white walls and floor tiling, built-in vanities, and shower/tub combos with fixed showerheads. Individual toiletries are provided, and some rooms have runway views, while others look out onto the tree-lined street.

All rooms are air-conditioned, and all include small flat-screen TVs,
phones, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, and coffee- and tea-making facilities, but they lack safes (there's a safety-deposit box at the front desk). Only Executive Rooms have mini-fridges. Executive Rooms also add trouser presses, bathrobes, slippers, and bathroom scales. Rooms are quiet thanks to triple-glazed windows, but some rooms are far from the lobby, and guests report some maintenance and housekeeping problems.

The Leonardo offers a good range of amenities, including a restaurant that’s open throughout the day, with 24/7 room service, and a modern bar with a small but attractive outdoor terrace. The breakfast buffet, included in some room rates, gets high marks from guests. The gym has free weights and weight-lifting and cardio machines, but it’s small, as is the elegantly decorated spa. A computer with a printer is available for guests' use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. The 11 meeting rooms can accommodate up to 130 guests.
The hotel’s basement garage offers long-stay parking for a fee, with parking packages available.
