Founded by the same entrepreneur behind Britain's large Yo! Sushi chain, this concept hotel is a funky, if a little gimmicky, alternative to your traditional airport hotel. Designed by aircraft carrier engineers, this mini-hotel prioritizes space-saving over all else, and there's not much in the way of common space except for a couple foldable chairs at the reception desk, dubbed "Mission Control." The space is designed to feel like an aircraft, with dim purple lighting and a bright Japanese cartoonish (but not Manga) mural on one wall. Guests are mostly transit passengers, and short-stay blocks are available for those who are just passing through for a few hours.

The hotel is located on the ground floor of Heathrow Airport's Terminal 4, next to a multi-faith prayer room. There's a WHSmith newsagent on this level selling books, magazines, and light snacks, as well as a branch of Costa Coffee. Getting to central London takes about 45 minutes by car (without traffic) or just under an hour by Tube.

Yotel offers Standard Cabins (singles) and Premium Cabins (big enough for two), as well as Premium Triple Cabins that can sleep up to two adults and two small kids. All have flat-screen TVs, pull-out desks, multiple power points, and notably spacious en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers. The accommodations have been designed with space-efficiency in mind, taking inspiration from first-class airline cabins, but the lack of natural light and airplane-like materials might not appeal to transit guests who don't feel up to reliving the aircraft experience. 

Amenities are limited at the Yotel, though there is free hotel-wide Wi-Fi plus a beverage station where guests can make hot tea, cocoa, and coffee 24/7. Guests can also order light meals, such as pizza and sandwiches, plus beer, wine, and liquor, from the front desk.
