The cheerful yellow three-story, Victorian-style building sits right on Main Street, and the style is standard Mackinac. Inside, pink and green floral wallpaper fills the lobby, dominated by a long pink love seat. The main common area is a carpeted billiards room with bright pink patterned wallpaper and wicker furniture and a section of board games. A painted white bookshelf holds hardcover books and ceramic Asian figurines. Overall, it looks a little fussy and dated, but still pleasant and clean. The hotel is popular with families and couples, and is particularly well suited to romantic getaways.

As its name suggests, the hotel is located on busy Main Street in downtown Mackinac Island, right in the middle of the action and surrounded by shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel. There's a fudge shop and bicycle rental place directly next to the main entrance. The hotel was built down the street from the ferry docks, and porters bring luggage to the hotel from the boats. Most attractions on this car-free island are within walking distance, including Fort Mackinac, which is five minutes on foot, and the Grand Hotel, which is a 10- to 15-minute walk.  

The hotel’s 18 air-conditioned rooms include suites with sitting areas and hot tubs in the bedrooms, as well as regular One- and Two-Bedroom Suites, and Standard Rooms. The decor in each room is different and, like most hotels on Mackinac Island, are heavy on Victorian style and florals, though the colors are a bit more subdued here, with low-key creams, pinks, and greens. The long vanities are separate from the adjoining bathrooms, with curtained showers. Some rooms have nice views of Main Street, while the views in others are of neighboring buildings. Less expensive interior rooms have no windows at all, and instead have skylights. Rooms have Wi-Fi, as well as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, and hairdryers, while suites have kitchenettes with microwaves. Turndown service includes a small box of fudge from nearby JoAnn’s.

The hotel’s main common space has a pool table, cable TV, and games. The hotel also offers secure bike storage and a deposit box. Along with the local fudge with turndown service, guest receive a coupon for a free half pound of fudge from JoAnn’s, which is located in the same building as the hotel.
