Like many '70s-era chain hotels of its ilk, the Hotel Roc Continental Park is crying out for a top-to-toe renovation to bring it into the 21st century. Although they're reasonably-well maintained, interiors throughout feel tired with aging decor taking the form of dark marble, varnished wood paneling, and dated furnishings. A pair of decrepit elevators service the hotel's seven floors, lined with old patterned carpets or more modern wood-effect flooring. One side of the property's yellow balconied facade overlooks the sunny pool terrace, which is characterized by faded tiles, water-stained concrete, and the almost constant thrumming of background music. The vibe is cheap and cheerful, and with the typical budget feel of an average all-inclusive hotel. Value-conscious guests are roughly an even split between vacationing couples and families traveling with kids; Brit and Germans make up the majority. 

The entrance to the hotel is one block from the main coastal road that runs through the relatively sedate resort town of Playa de Muro -- just south of the larger Port d'Alcudia and halfway along its huge sweeping bay. There are no shortage of mini-markets, restaurants, and tourist shops within a short stroll, and it's a five-minute walk to a lovely, long stretch of sandy beach. The Alcudia Nature Reserve -- protected wetlands perfect for bird-watching -- is a five-minute taxi ride. Regular buses also run along the main road. In the other direction, the family-friendly Hidropark is a 10-minute drive away, or the scenic cobbled streets of Alcudia town are about 15 minutes. Situated at the opposite end of the island, the capital of Palma and its Palma de Mallorca Airport are up to an hour by road.

The hotel's accommodations are split between 155 double rooms and around 20 one-bedroom apartments sleeping up to four guests. Decor is just as dated as the rest of the property, with yellow textured walls, ancient bedspreads, granite counters. All extend to balconies or terraces, with pool-facing rooms on higher floors offering some partial sea views (for an extra charge); rooms on the other side overlook a busy main road.

Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, digital safes, and air-conditioning, while apartments add separate living rooms with lounge and kitchen areas offering basic cooking facilities. In-room Wi-Fi is available for an added fee. Bathrooms feel well-maintained, with shower/tub combos and wall-mounted soap/shampoo dispensers -- though there are no hairdryers. Past guests report rooms are generally prone to noise, from both evening entertainment and neighboring guests. 

Hotel Roc Continental Park covers most of the facilities expected from a typical resort hotel, with a focus on family-oriented travelers. There's an outside swimming pool with a separate kids pool. An enthusiastic animation team here provides regular organized activities for varying ages. The pool tends to be in the shade for late afternoon. A kids' club also caters to the property's youngest guests, together with a bouncy castle and play center. For adults, a stage offers more evening entertainment, while sports facilities include a tennis court. 

On-site dining options are limited to the hotel's buffet restaurant, which opens for breakfast, lunch, and dinner serving a basic but mostly edible spread of hot and cold dishes, plus regular themed nights. There's also a kids' corner, and a snack bar offering mostly sandwiches. The all-inclusive plan also covers the usual non-branded drinks, sangria and pre-mixed cocktails.

Wi-Fi is available, although it costs an added fee. Parking is also available for an extra fee.
