1

Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa

Sa Coma, Majorca (Mallorca)

Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa is the most luxurious of Sa Coma's Protur properties, which include two resort-type hotels and four properties with apartment-style accommodations. They’re all in the same complex, a short walk from the beach, but the Biomar has the best rooms, atmosphere, and amenities. The mid-sized luxury hotels has ample family facilities, like a kids’ club with a kiddy pool and a playground and dozens of daily on-site activities. Family-friendly entertainment is put on every evening at the bar. The hotel’s 216 rooms are spacious and sunny, with large windows opening to small furnished balconies or wooden decks with loungers and comfy patio furniture, as well as electric kettles and flat-screen TVs. All room rates include free Wi-Fi, free parking, and free buffet breakfast.

2

Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa

Port de Soller, Soller, Majorca (Mallorca)

Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa stands largely unrivaled when it comes to luxury in Majorca. But it's no slouch when it comes to family-friendliness, too. Kids under 12 stay free with their families, in stylish rooms that have large flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and separate soaking tubs in bathrooms. Jumeirah's kids' club offers indoor and outdoor activities, and there is a family-friendly pool on a separate deck. The beach is a 10-minute walk away, plus there are free hotel shuttles to Port Soller (but no free breakfast, like at Protur Biomar).

3

Hipotels Cala Millor Park

Cala Millor, Majorca (Mallorca)

As far as luxury goes, the 205-room Hipotels Aparthotel Cala Millor Park is several notches below Protur Biomar and Jumeriah. But its simple, contemporary interiors plus lively entertainment, solid buffets, and available all-inclusive and half-board plans make this a popular choice. There are a number of family-friendly facilities, like a kids' pool, kids' and teens' clubs, outdoor playground, game room (with pool table, foosball, and several arcade games), soccer field, and beach volleyball. Air-conditioned rooms start at a spacious 377 square feet, and come with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and shower/tub combos. Junior Suites have separate living rooms with sofas/daybeds. The hotel is conveniently situated a block from the beach and close to restaurants, bars, and shops.

4

Zafiro Can Picafort

Ca'n Picafort, Majorca (Mallorca)

Viva Can Picafort is a 285-unit apartment hotel with all-inclusive options, catering to families with kids. The apartments are all spacious one-bedrooms, with kitchenettes, balconies, sleeper sofas, shower/tub combos, and free Wi-Fi. There are a full slate of activities for adults, and a kids' club with large outdoor playground and nightly mini-disco. Viva Can Picafort's large pool complex includes a pirate ship water park and toddler/baby pools, plus a poolside bar with kids' menus. The a la carte and buffet dining options, games room, sports fields, putting green, bike rentals, on-site laundry facilities, and full grocery store also contribute to this property's family-friendly appeal.

5

Hipotels Hipocampo Palace

Cala Millor, Majorca (Mallorca)

Like Hipotels Aparthotel, this 203-room hotel is nowhere near as high-end as our first two picks, but its huge outdoor pool and kids' pool surrounded by trim lawns, as well as clay tennis courts, tasty buffet, and outdoor playground all earn it a spot on this list, and its location an easy five-minute walk from the beach in Cala Millor is a plus. Hipotels' animation team organizes games, competitions, and live music throughout the day, plus evening shows, live music, and other performances. Guest rooms here are much more stylish and contemporary than what you'll find at Viva Can Picafort, but they don't provide as much space (these are traditional hotel rooms, not apartments).

6

BQ Delfin Azul Hotel

Port d'Alcudia, Alcudia, Majorca (Mallorca)

BQ Delfin Azul Hotel dates to the '70s, but renovations in 2014 and 2015 have left the family-friendly hotel up to date and spotlessly clean. Its location on a main road in Port d'Alcudia's commercial neighborhood isn't ideal, though the long sandy beach (with a wide stretch of shallow water that is great for kids) is still well within walking distance. For on-site splashing, BQ Delfin has a good-size swimming pool with separate kids’ section and a playground with spray equipment. A twice-daily mini-club (for 4 years and up) hosts a mini-disco every evening. Rooms have mini-fridges and 32-inch flat-screen TVs, but note that in-room Wi-Fi costs a fee and bathrooms have showers, not tubs (Wi-Fi is free throughout Hipocampo Palace, and bathrooms there have shower/tub combos). Breakfast is included in the rates. All in all this is a decent package of good food, family fun, and simple, clean accommodations.

7

Hotel Roc Gran Camp de Mar

Camp De Mar, Majorca (Mallorca)

Whereas BQ Delfin is a short walk from the beach, the upscale Olimarotel Gran Camp de Mar is directly on a lovely sandy beach with calm surf and shallow water that is excellent for snorkeling. The large destination resort has a variety of all-inclusive options (ID wristbands must be worn at all times here) and activities for guests of all ages, but there is still a quieter atmosphere than at many Majorca beach hotels. In addition to its beachfront area, Olimarotel has a lagoon-style pool, two outdoor tennis courts, two multi-sport courts, and organized bike and canoe outings. Kids’ activities include mini disco, crafts, games, and a playground. Rooms have air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channel, but Wi-Fi costs a fee here, and bathrooms only have showers (no tubs). Connecting rooms are available, as are kids’ menus at the restaurants.

8

Zafiro Palmanova

Palmanova, Calvia, Majorca (Mallorca)

The 198-room Viva Palmanova is an upscale, family-friendly apartment complex that is a three-minute walk to the beach and a five-minute walk to Katmandu Park theme park. All of its contemporary apartments were updated in 2015, and feature kitchenettes, living areas, balconies, two flat-screen TVs (32-inch in bedrooms and 40-inch in lounges), and free Wi-Fi (as opposed to the Wi-Fi-for-a-fee at Olimarotel). Common features are as family-appropriate as the rooms, with a total of five pools -- including a pirate-themed water park -- and a supervised kids' club with daily animation program, a playground, and a bouncy castle. Viva Palmanova's optional all-inclusive plan is one of the better ones around, and food is generally excellent.

9

Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca, Majorca (Mallorca)

This regal and elegant hotel doesn't have as impressive kids' facilities as our first eight picks, but it has a major edge on those -- what kid wouldn’t love to stay in a 13th-century castle? Besides, Castillo Hotel Son Vida does provide a cute and colorful kids' club with a sandy play area and small separate kiddy pool. Its 164 rooms come with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and bathrooms have large porcelain bathtubs and heated floors.

10

Holiday Village Majorca – Protur Monte Safari

Cala Millor, Majorca (Mallorca)

Holiday Village Majorca Protur Monte Safari is a massive family-friendly property with sprawling grounds and numerous activities and entertainment options for kids. Its especially well-suited for families with young children: daycare services are available, the children's entertainment team is 60 strong in peak season, and there's a kids' club with a game room, basketball courts, and a tree-house playground complete with a rock-climbing wall. There's also a kids' pool replete with all sorts of fountains and slides -- even the main pool has a huge floating playground. Additional perks here are the multiple on-site restaurants and free resort-wide Wi-Fi. A variety of room options are available, from Standard and Family Apartments to Swim-Up Suites with private pools. Bathrooms have showers, not tubs, but portable bathtubs are available on request, as are cribs. Holiday Village's inland location could be a drawback, but a free shuttle leaves every 15 minutes for the beach and commercial area.

11

Hipotels Eurotel Punta Rotja & Spa

Costa De Los Pinos, Majorca (Mallorca)

Hipotels Eurotel Punta Rotja's location is its first plus for families: it is set in a quiet neighborhood with little surrounding nightlife. There are four pools, including a kids' splash pool, as well as an on-site manmade beach, playground, tennis courts, and loaner bikes. A kids' club (for 4- to 12-year-olds) runs over the summer months. The 203 rooms are smart and functional: They all have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. All open to long furnished balconies with either sea or mountain views (though some overlook scrub) and all have shower/tub combos in the bathrooms. Suites add separate lounges with larger TVs and sofas.

12

Puerto Azul Suite Hotel

Port de Pollenca, Majorca (Mallorca)

Puerto Azul Suite Hotel offers all-suite accommodations two blocks from the beach promenade. Here, the standard plan is half-board, and the vibe is relaxed and family-friendly. Puerto Azul's swimming pool has a separate kids’ section and a poolside snack bar, its supervised mini-club has a playground, and its buffet restaurant has live-cooking stations. The 148 modern suites all open to pool- or mountain-view balconies, however the free Wi-Fi can be spotty on some floors. Separate living rooms all have sofa beds and 32-inch flat-screen TVs (there are second small TV sets in bedroom) offering several English-speaking channels, including one for kids. Unlike Hipotels Eurotel, bathrooms have only showers, instead of shower/tub combos.

13

Cristina Villas Apartments

Cala Millor, Majorca (Mallorca)

Cristina Apartments is a budget property in a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by trees and mountains, but a 15-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute walk from the center of town. It has a great family atmosphere with plenty of entertainment for kids, including a large pool and a kids' pool, sandy playground, small soccer pitch, and arcade room. The Mini Bingo's clubhouse is stocked with paint and supplies for arts and crafts, and in the evenings, a lively animation team provides entertainment for all ages. The 74 units are spread out over beautifully landscaped grounds. The no-frills Studios, One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments, and three-bedroom/two-bath Villas (which can sleep up to eight) all feature kitchens and spacious balconies. There is a small on-site supermarket -- perfect for stocking up the in-room kitchens -- as well as ample free parking.

14

PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa

Alcudia, Majorca (Mallorca)

With 532 rooms, sprawling tropical grounds, tons of on-site activities, and optional all-inclusive plans, the mid-range PortBlue Club Pollentia is a large Caribbean-style resort popular with both families and couples (it actually has two different sections -- a family section and an adult-only one -- to cater to each group). The family-friendly section is busy and loud during peak season, with a large lagoon-style pool and kiddy pool, a buffet restaurant, and a kids’ club (babysitting services are available for an extra fee). In addition to daily entertainment, there are tennis, squash and volleyball courts; a soccer field; bocce ball, archery; bike rentals; and a putting green, among many other on-site activities. Rooms are either renovated and fresh or non-renovated and dated, but all are air-conditioned and come with flat-screen TVs, shower/tub combos, and free Wi-Fi. There are mini-fridges here, as opposed to the in-room kitchens found at Christina Apartments. The nearest beaches are a 10-minute drive away in either direction, but the property offers free shuttle service to Port Pollenca and a few nearby beaches.

15

FERGUS Style Cala Blanca Suites

Santa Ponsa, Calvia, Majorca (Mallorca)

This busy, upscale all-inclusive property is adjacent to a small cove and a 10-minute walk from a larger beach. There are lots of family-friendly features here, such as daily entertainment, medium-size pool with a snack bar, kiddy pool with slides, kids’ club with activities, and a playground. The 175 suites have stylish contemporary decor, living areas with sofa beds, and furnished terraces (most with sea views), and free Wi-Fi. There are shower/tub combos in the bathrooms. Drawbacks include the fact that, during peak son, Fergus Style Cala is jam-packed to the point of being uncomfortable -- particularly at the pool -- and that the all-inclusive package doesn’t include certain items, like pizza and ice cream.
