From the street, the Sol Wave House looks just like any other beachfront hotel in Magaluf. Past the entrance, however, it's clear that the property is far from just another generic mid-range hotel. The lobby is contemporary and minimalist, with a neutral palette ranging from soft browns to off-whites, and curvy furniture with a somewhat futuristic look. A long undulating bench stacked with sand-colored pillows gives seating; it's balanced by Saarinen-style tables and pod-like ottomans. Pink LED lights behind a white lattice wall lend the space an edgy feel, while the small front desk with cleaner lines adds some balance. 

The hotel has a surf-inspired theme throughout, with a surf shop, tropical flowers painted on walls, and colorful surfboard-shaped tables at the snack bar. The pool deck is quite unique in Magaluf -- instead of row after row of plastic loungers, there are bright red cabanas with bar service and pull-down blinds for privacy and shade. This gives the property a more upscale, stylish, and exclusive feel. A separate deck with views of the wave center and the beach offers a couple dozen loungers. While the hotel is at the end of the main party strip, the vibe here is relaxed and cheerful. Soft lounge music plays in the background, and guests lounge by the pool, most seeking some relaxation rather than cheap drinks and loud pool parties.

The Sol Wave House has an attractive beachfront location with a popular stretch of sandy coastline right out front of the resort. It's located right at the end of Punta Ballena, the main nightlife street in Magaluf. There are dozens of bustling bars within a couple of blocks of the hotel, and a number of small, casual eateries serve fast food and pizza. The property is also right on Magaluf’s long, sandy beach, lined with shops selling all types of items, from clothes to beach gear. The area is lively during the day, but the atmosphere becomes wild and loud in the evening, when throngs of young travelers (mainly British and German) flock to the bars, which offer cheap drinks and racy parties until the wee hours. Guests can find quieter, more family-friendly areas with a few restaurants and bars a 10-minute walk from the hotel in either direction. Buses to Palma stop less than two blocks from the hotel. The Sol Wave House is a 25-minute drive from the capital, and a half-hour from the airport.

Guest rooms at the Sol Wave House have a chic, streamlined look, with coffee-colored walls and surf-inspired stenciled decals above the bed. Sleek white furniture with built-in cabinets give a modern backdrop, and espresso-hued throw pillows and bed runners bring in a little contrast. Elliptical, wall-mounted tables sport a little surfboard fin. The air-conditioned Junior Suites and Suites range between 455 and 700 square feet, all with balconies, and many with sea and pool views. Each unit is equipped with a small kitchen area complete with a microwave, a toaster, a coffeemaker (no coffee provided, though), and a sink. Other standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, sofa beds, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and safes. Bathrooms were updated in 2014 and have large walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads and small dark brown tiles. Other fixtures, however, are a little old-fashioned, and basic toiletries are provided in large wall-mounted containers. Xtra House Party Suites include nicer toiletries and extras such as a bottle of cava on arrival, cabana reservations, beach bags, and speakers. Street-facing rooms may get noise from nearby bars. 

Features are what truly set the Sol Wave House apart from other upscale hotels in the area. The hotel has a long infinity pool offering beach views and a large sundeck with cabanas that guests can rent for a daily fee. Free loungers are available on a separate deck also with sea views. The highlight at the Sol Wave House, however, is the Wave Entertainment Venue, a small water park housed in a separate beachfront deck with two wave pools open to guests and non-guests alike (guests get discounted tickets). One of the pools creates non-breaking waves for beginners, and the other creates barrel waves for advanced surfers, which is a first in Europe. Instructors are available throughout the day, and equipment is provided to all customers. The wave center also features several dining and drinking options, including a diner, a smoothie bar, and a Tex-Mex restaurant. An additional buffet restaurant and a snack bar serving salads, sandwiches, and burgers are also available at the hotel. The Sol Wave House has a beachfront location with a long stretch of sand right off the property. Other features include free Wi-Fi throughout, free covered parking, and a massage tent on the pool deck.
