This hotel is not your typical Best Western. While this doesn’t necessarily mean it is an above-average mid-range pick, the property does offer a few perks, including several great freebies, and individually decorated rooms. Some may feel a little bit intimidated by the neighborhood, which can be a tad seedy and busy at times, but the vibe inside the hotel is much quieter and relaxing. The lobby, while small, features a couple of nods to traditional Filipino decor style, with woven furniture and tropical motifs, and large arched windows that let in lots of natural light. The rest of the common spaces are more generic, with simple wooden furniture, and small wall lamps that can make some spaces (especially hallways) a little too dark.

Best Western Hotel La Corona is located on the corner of two small streets in Ermita neighborhood, known for having been the red-light district in the '80s. This area has since seen some development, but some guests may feel a little bit uncomfortable walking around at night. However, those looking to stay in a central location in Manila may find this to be a convenient location, as it is within walking distance of major attractions such as historic Intramuros, Rizal Park, and the Baywalk. The U.S. Embassy is down the street. Makati is just a short drive away.

Rooms at this Best Western are more boutique-y than those at other properties of the chain. All feature cheerful wallpaper or colorful accent walls, and most have laminate floors, wood furniture, and unique features such as ceiling moldings or exposed wooden beams. Bathrooms are average, but most have rain showerheads. Standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and electric kettles with free coffee and tea. Suites offer more space, larger windows, DVD players, and (in most) jetted tubs. Free bottled water is offered on arrival, and replenished daily. Light sleepers may want to request a room in the rear of the hotel, as street-facing units can get traffic noise. 

The restaurant offers a short international menu for lunch and dinner in an attractive space with wood wall paneling, large windows, ceiling moldings with LED lights, and a small bar for evening drinks. A free breakfast buffet is served here every morning. The hotel also offers a meeting room and a small business center with one computer and secretarial services -- but little else. However, free breakfast, parking, bottled water, and Wi-Fi are all great perks that add value.
