The smell of lemongrass wafts through the sparsely furnished asymmetrical lobby that's filled with light thanks to a wall of windows at the entryway. A wood-paneled front desk sits opposite a lounge area arranged with boxy couches and chairs around low glass tables. Rich wood covers walls and floors throughout the building, but the common spaces are otherwise minimally adorned with scattered pieces of modern, abstract art.

Located in Southbank, Quay West Suites Melbourne sits on the cosmopolitan side of the Yarra River amid many shops, bars, and eateries, including P.J. O’Brien’s Irish Pub, World Restaurant & Bar, and Nobu. The Southbank Promenade and tram station, Crown
Casino, Arts Centre, and National Gallery of Victoria are all close by as well. For those looking to take a long stroll, the Melbourne
Convention and Exhibition Centre is about a 20- to 25-minute walk southwest along the river. Melbourne Airport is north across the
river and through the downtown area, about a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

Each room is an apartment-style suite with an open layout and neutral, gray decor. Large sitting rooms with couches and dining tables make the one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites ideal for long
stays, as do their full kitchens. Smaller studio rooms have kitchenettes, and many of these have private balconies with city or river views. Kitchens have hardwood floors packed with appliances that include ovens, stovetops, refrigerators, and dishwashers. Most also have Nespresso machines and washer/dryer combos. All bathrooms are covered in pink marble and white tile with walk-in showers and separate soaking tubs.

The river promenade outside may be the Quay West’s most alluring feature, but the hotel also has its own indoor heated lap pool and hot tub. The pool room presents a modernist take on a Roman bath, with lit alcoves containing sculptures along the wall and small water features that spill into the pool. The adjacent fitness room however is a bit too small for the bulky cardio machines and weight
trainers packed into it. A small sauna is on hand as well.

Meals can be taken inside or outside on Jarrah Restaurant & Bar's outdoor terrace. Breakfast (not included in the room rates) is served daily and the dinner menu consists of seasonal seafood dishes, pasta, and steaks, but the restaurant is generally closed at lunch for private functions. Apart from the restaurant and terrace, the hotel
has two dedicated event rooms that, combined, can host up to 160 guests.
