Built in 1956, 1818 Meridian House is a boxy, two-story building with geometric motifs adding a hint of Art Deco appeal. The hotel is in the shadow of a much taller neighboring building, and a small parking lot decorated with shrubs sets the hotel off from the road. The inner walls of the property form a courtyard filled with towering palms and grassy lawns, while a concrete pathway leads to a reflecting pool filled with stones. A small, wooden patio with colorful chairs provides a spot for guests to relax. There are no elevators at the hotel, but exposed stairways in the courtyard lead to upper level rooms. 

1818 Meridian House is situated on Meridian Street and across from the Miami Beach Convention Center. Lincoln Road Mall, a pedestrian street with shops, cafes, bars, and galleries, is just two blocks away. There is a Publix grocery store within a 10-minute walk, and the beach can be reached within a 15-minute walk. American Airlines Arena (home of the Miami Heat) and the Miami International Airport are both within a 25-minute drive. 

Rooms at the hotel have a fun, modern vibe (think Ikea) with robin blue walls and white ceilings. Furnishings are sleek and contemporary, including simple, wooden bed frames and tall bistro tables with white chairs. Small kitchenettes are equipped with mini-fridges, microwaves, sinks, espresso machines, and tiny dishwashers. Some rooms have stovetops or full ovens, plus cookware is provided. Rooms are also tech-savvy with 47-inch flat-screen TVs (some rooms have a second smaller TV), iPads in sound docks, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are covered in white tile and have walk-in showers, plus darling Pascal Morabito toiletry kits are provided. Two-bedroom suites are also available that can accommodate up to five guests. 

The hotel doesn't offer many on-site features, but there is a pretty courtyard area with a wooden patio and chairs. Parking spots are available for a fee, but guests must make advance reservations. The hotel also has washer/dryer facilities. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
