Housed in a refurbished 1960s building that leans towards the Brutalist school of architecture, this Sheraton Skyline Hotel certainly favors function over form. The lobby is bright and modern, with polished tiled floors, chrome-trimmed pillars, and little else to impress the eye. Some efforts have been made with "funky" contemporary seating areas, where guests can relax with a Starbucks coffee and the faint sound of the occasion jet overhead. Unsurprising for an airport hotel, the ambience is transient, with business visitors and airplane staff stopping in for a night at a time.

The Sheraton Skyline Hotel is located on a busy road that runs parallel to Heathrow Airport, which includes other hotels, businesses, and restaurants. A Hoppa bus delivers guests to the terminals 1-3, and another terminals 4-5, departing about every 20-30 minutes (for a fee). Central London is a 45-minute tube journey from Heathrow Underground Station, which is situated within the airport, or 15 minutes by the Heathrow Express train service.

The hotel's 350 rooms are pretty spacious and decorated in a traditional style typical of a chain hotel, with some modern furnishings and art prints. Triple-glazed windows and blackout curtains help a good night's sleep, while standard amenities include flat-screen TVs and well-equipped work desks. Wi-Fi is available, but not free in standard rooms.

The hotel's impressive tropical-style Sky Garden sits at the heart of the hotel, and features a large heated swimming pool surrounded by lush vegetation and plenty of seating -- there is even a cocktail bar built into the pool. Madhu's restaurant serves Indian food with a Kenyan twist, while the Sports Bar and Grill serves American-style fare. A Starbucks can be found in the lobby, as well as a space with computer terminal and free Wi-Fi. There's also a pretty big gym on-site, and parking is also available for a fee.
