The Doubletree by Hilton Milan is housed in a blocky U-shaped building that combines glass and wood paneling, making for an odd structure on a less-than-picturesque-street in Milan's business district. But once inside, guests find themselves engulfed in the hotel's contemporary sleek style, full of rich browns, polished white floors, and sharp-angled minimalist decor. This includes a shiny white front desk, plenty of spacious seating on leather couches, snazzy hanging lamps, black-and-white photographs, and a corner of lovely paintings on display. The whole vibe is slick, professional, and airy, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. This style is found throughout the hotel, especially in the well-lit Glass Restaurant and Bar, which has wooden floors, dark wooden tables, and opaque drapes. The hotel primarily draws business travelers, who can be seen congregating in the bar between meetings.

Located in the business district of Viale Certosa with a few restaurants on nearby streets, the hotel is far from the main attractions, but it offers free shuttle service to and from the Malpensa shuttle bus stop and Certosa metro station. It’s about a 25-minute drive, or a 40-minute ride on public transportation, to central Milan. There’s a tram stop within a two-minute walk of the hotel. The hotel is a 10-minute drive to the MiCo Milani Congressi, an exhibition center. It takes 11 minutes to reach the Fiera Milano, a large fairground that hosts exhibits. The San Siro Stadium, a football stadium, is an 11-minute drive from the hotel. It’s a 37-minute drive to Malpensa Airport. Though the area around the hotel is generally safe during the day, some guests have said they found it a bit sketchy at night. 

All 240 rooms at the Doubletree by Hilton Milan feature chic decor continuing the look of the hotel's public spaces. Rooms have brown carpet and cream walls and accents, with furniture that alternates between light-colored wood and white paneling, creating a relaxing spa-like vibe. Black-and-white photographs of Milan next to the beds add a stylish touch. All rooms include free standard Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars -- with bottled water -- desks that meld into stands for the 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Suites have separate living areas with couches. Bathrooms have sleek white-and-gray tile design, with deep tubs in the shower/tub combos. Small details like large sinks, wooden counters, Aroma Actives toiletries, magnifying mirrors, robes, towel warmers, and hairdryers are what take these bathrooms beyond average. 

Advertised as a business hotel, the Doubletree by Hilton Milan has 11 meeting spaces, which can accommodate up to 50 people. Audio-visual equipment must be rented. With wall-to-wall windows, these rooms have natural lighting and views of the city. There’s a business center and free standard Wi-Fi, though high-speed Wi-Fi comes with a fee. The hotel’s on-site restaurants include the trendy Glass Restaurant and Bar, which serves a breakfast buffet (for a fee with standard rates), lunch, and dinner, and offers room service. Meals are also served on the outdoor patio among the funky colorful couches made of plush fabric or woven metal. The fitness center has cardio machines with TVs, weight benches, medicine balls, and free weights. The on-site garage offers self-parking for a fee.
