In a city chock-full of mid-range options, when it comes to style this is one of the less modern options available. That being said, the hotel's central location is a serious draw for wide range of travelers that pass through this hotel. The hotel is housed in an anonymous brick tower that looks like any '90s office building from the outside. Inside, while the decor is well kept and interiors are clean, the overall look is dated. The hotel has a large, busy conference center with its own entrance, while the other entrance to the hotel opens into the lobby where striped yellow couches and glass tables make up a sitting area that gives off distinct corporate-hotel-from-an-earlier-decade vibes. There's nothing offensive here, though, and overall a stay at the hotel is a pleasant experience, but guests looking for the chic style for which Milan is famous may want to shop around.

By far one of the standout features of this hotel is its prime location. There's a high concentration of restaurants and bars within walking distance. It’s also a 10-minute walk to Corso Buenos Aires, one of the city's main shopping streets that's home to a variety of outlets like Frette that sell everything from home decore to clothing. For those who want to move about the city easily, the hotel is just a three-minute walk to Central Station, which is also the nearest metro stop (Centrale). Posh Via della Spiga and Via Monte Napoleone are just 15 minutes away by metro for those in search of the city's famed luxury goods. The historic center of Milan and the city's iconic Duomo are also just 15 minutes away by metro. Expect a 20-minute drive to Linate Airport, which takes 40 minutes to reach on public transportation. 

Rooms at the Michelangelo Hotel are clean and pleasant, but in need of a style update. Each has wooden paneling topped with brass chair rails and outdated carpeting. Pleather chairs or an upholstered sofa are placed in front of a glass coffee table. Simple wood nightstands flank the bed, which is covered with a geometric print bed runner that matches the slip covers over the headboards and the curtains. Color schemes run dark and warm, with antiqued peach walls and burgundy accents. Rooms do have an impressive amount of amenities including flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and minibars with free soda and bottled water. Some rooms have electronic curtains operated by a small remote control -- a retro nod that's either cool or dated depending on your perspective. Cribs are available for families. The red-tile bathrooms feature deep whirlpool tubs and makeup mirrors, while bathrobes, slippers, and bath salts are provided. Some guests have reported non-working jets in their tubs. Rooms on higher floors offer impressive city views. 

Michelangelo Hotel's location is its best feature, but a free breakfast buffet earns high marks for the variety of available dishes including cereals, fruit, cold cuts, pastries, and hot dishes like eggs. Guests also appreciate the freshly-squeezed orange juice. There’s a bar and restaurant on-site serving Italian fare and wines that gets solid marks as well. The property has a conference center with adjustable walls and closed circuit television for private events. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Parking is available for a fee.
