Maximilian Munich occupies a four-story building with a pale-yellow facade and old-fashioned sash windows that look out on a quiet city side street. A highlight is the large landscaped garden in the hotel's inner courtyard, which provides a charming outdoor area to relax amid trees, gazebos, stone fountains, potted plants, and wooden benches, while offering scenic views from the balconies, and the restaurant's conservatory and terrace. Interiors are decorated in a simple, classic style, with scarlet carpeting in the corridors and cream-colored walls. A mix of different types of guests choose to stay here: business travelers who need to be in the city center, as well as leisure travelers requiring apartment-style lodging. The hotel does have elevators, but they are small and can be a challenge to negotiate with luggage.

Maximilian Munich is located on a quiet side street in the city center, with many tourist attractions within walking distance and several restaurants, cafes, and shops in the immediate vicinity. The area is well-connected to public transit, with bus and tram stops close by. The closest metro (U-Bahn) station is at Marienplatz, walking distance away, while a suburban train station (S-Bahn) with direct trains to the airport, is also located close by.

Guest rooms at the Maximilian Munich vary in size and configuration, but all come equipped with kitchenettes. City Studios and City Suites are located in the main building and sleep a maximum of two guests in the studios, and two adults and two children in the suites. The Garden Studios, Park Suites, and Rose Garden Suites are located in separate buildings set in the garden, all with private balconies. The largest rooms are the Company Suites and Family Maisonettes, all located in the main building and sleeping a maximum of four adults and two children. 

Interiors are decorated in a simple classic style, featuring French walnut furniture finished in warm wood tones, and floors are covered in wall-to-wall carpeting or hardwood floors, contrasted by mostly bare, cream-colored walls. The living rooms are well-furnished, with two sofa beds, work desks, and dining tables and chairs. All the studios, suites, and apartments have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and free Wi-Fi. All units also come with kitchenettes with minibars, stovetops, Nespresso coffeemakers, and basic cookware and appliances. Minibars are well-stocked with mineral water, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, and snacks, and other in-room amenities include safes, irons, and ironing boards.

Bathrooms are generally spacious and have marble counters and either shower/tub combos or shower stalls that can feel cramped. Some rooms have separate toilet vestibules. Handy amenities include towel warmers, magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, bathrobes, slippers, and Molton Brown toiletries.  

Maximilian Munich offers more features than the average apartment-style hotel, including a buffet breakfast served at Kleines Max, the on-site restaurant, for a fee. Items include different types of cold cuts, cheese, cereal, breads, pastries, fresh fruit, as well as hot dishes like eggs and sausage. The restaurant is also open for dinner in the evenings and features a menu of Mediterranean dishes and regional specialties. Guests can also sit in a glass-enclosed conservatory or on an outdoor terrace overlooking the garden.

The Spa area is decked out in pine wood and features a Finnish sauna, a steam room, a Kneipp foot basin, a spa shower with programmable light and sound effects, and a relaxation room. Massages are available on request. There's also a limited fitness room equipped with a treadmill, an exercise bike, a rowing machine, and a cross trainer.

Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry room, concierge service, dry cleaning, and room service. On-site parking is available in the hotel's private underground garage for a fee, and there's free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Pets are welcome.
