The Bellissimo Resort is a boutique-style mid-range hotel with just 14 rooms, located a three-minute walk from Agios Ioannis Beach. There’s a relaxed vibe and the charming grounds have lovely Aegean Sea views, including from some of the spacious rooms, which have attractive balconies and small bathrooms. The beautiful saltwater pool features cabanas and sunbeds, and two all-day restaurants serve excellent Greek and Italian food (half-board packages are available). The buffet breakfast is free, but it gets mixed reviews. Wi-Fi and parking are free, and car and motorbike rental are available. The nearby Lithos by Spyros & Flora has rooms with larger bathrooms and kitchenettes.
Scene
Quaint, well-kept, and quintessentially Greek grounds in hillside setting
The well-kept grounds at the Bellissimo Resort have a quaint and charming feel, and the keen use of traditional stone walls takes inspiration from the hillside setting. Constructed in 2010, the whitewashed buildings are surrounded by trees and bushes in attractive rockeries. The small but homey lobby has white walls, chic white-upholstered wicker sofas, and a newspaper-collage-framed mirror. The white reception desk sports warm terra-cotta accent panels. The beautiful pool sits on a paved courtyard fronted on two sides by the resort’s guest rooms. The light and airy Vasilikos restaurant takes the stone walls and floors inside, which makes the place feel like it’s built into the mountain. Most of the guests here are international couples on vacation.
Location
Quiet hillside location, walking distance to beaches, and bus connections to town
The Bellissimo Resort is set on a quiet hillside road, with just a couple of other small resorts in the vicinity. Two nearby beaches are within walking distance, and a public bus stops just outside the property to transport guests to Mykonos's town center. From Athens, Mykonos is around a 35-minute domestic flight or three- to five-hour ferry ride.
Rooms
Simple, bright and spacious rooms with large and attractive balconies -- some with sea views
The five air-conditioned rooms at the Bellissimo Resort are simple but bright and spacious. There are white walls, tiled flooring, and metal-framed beds between functional bedside tables. Other furniture includes large freestanding wood wardrobes and dated metal tables and chairs. Thoughtful design touches like driftwood-framed mirrors add elegance.
Windows and French doors have lovely olive-green external wooden shutters, and spacious balconies come with either attractive wood-framed, cream-upholstered directors chairs or simpler wooden deckchairs. Superior Sea View Rooms provide beautiful pool and partial sea views. Ground floor rooms open right onto the pool, but might lack privacy as a result. Triple rooms are also available. Note that some twin beds are pushed together to make a double bed.
Standard amenities include small, wall-mounted flat-screen cable TVs, phones, free Wi-Fi, safes, large mini-fridges, and coffee- and tea-making facilities.
Bathroom doors sport rather tacky photo murals depicting beach scenes. Inside, bathrooms are attractive, but they’re on the small side. There’s charming terra-cotta floor tiling, pebbled picture-rail-style wall edging, and semi-open shower stalls with pebbled flooring and both rainfall and power showerheads. Pale-brown vanities with submerged sinks are slightly dated. Hairdryers and miniature toiletries are provided.
Features
Lovely saltwater pool, free breakfast gets mixed reviews, two excellent all-day Greek and Italian restaurants
The attractive saltwater pool is the star of the show at the Bellissimo Resort -- it’s surrounded by a number of sunbeds and stylish cabanas. Pool and beach towels are provided. There’s a free buffet breakfast, though it gets mixed reviews, and a half-board option is available. Two on-site restaurants (Vasilikos and Bellissimo Pasta & Pizza) are open from morning until late evening, serving excellent Greek and Italian cuisine, plus a bar. Room service is also available. Car and motorbike rentals are available, and there’s free off-street private parking and free Wi-Fi. The property is family-run, and personal service gets great reviews, but note that the front desk isn’t open around the clock. The resort also operates a number of noteworthy eco-friendly initiatives, including use of solar-heated water, a recycling program, and rainwater collection.
