Rooms are spacious and modern with artistic, natural decor -- plus amazing views of the sea. The little touches, such as aromatherapy candles for in-room turndown service, make a visit to the Rocabella the epitome of laid-back luxury. Unlike some competitors, the Rocbella has both a spa and gym.
Scene
Hip, modern, and intimate, with a pool by the beach
The Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa manages to combine hipness and serenity. Playful wall art and labyrinthine architecture create interesting nooks where guests can relax, socialize, or enjoy the panoramic island views. The pool is nothing short of an oasis, surrounded by lounges and Balinese sun-beds with canopies for privacy. Guests flock to the elegant poolside bar for smoothies, coffees, or cocktails at tall white tables overlooking the water, or shaded hammock chairs. The property and its guests -- a fashionable, creative crowd -- embody a modern, playful personality with a touch of zen.
Location
By the beach, near the airport, and just outside of Mykonos town
The Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa is on a quiet stone street wrapping around the water, a 10-minute drive from downtown Mykonos and its famous nightlife. The hotel runs a free shuttle back and forth from the scene, but the last ride is at midnight, so party-minded guests will need a taxi or rental car to get home. The gorgeous beach town of Agios Stefanos is about a 10-minute walk downhill. The airport is three miles away from the Rocabella, which is quiet and slightly off the well-trammeled tourist path, but not too far off.
Rooms
Romantic lighting, gorgeous bathrooms, beautiful balconies, great turndown service
Rooms at the Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa are contemporary and chic, with artistic, exquisite touches. Some rooms have rock walls that give them a cozy feeling; all have romantic lighting and organic details, including twisted wood chandeliers, wood furniture, and potted plants. There are enough extras for a relaxing night in, such as DVD/CD players, flat-screen TVs, minibars stocked with local delicacies, and turndown service with aromatherapy and sweet treats. Bathrooms are serene and natural, done in stucco, with wooden shelves, potted lavender, and fantastic walk-in showers. All rooms have furnished balconies -- many with sea views, and some with outdoor whirlpools.
Features
Pool with Balinese sun-beds, free snacks all day, relaxing spa
The most striking feature at the Rocabella Mykonos Art Hotel & Spa is the pool, with its luxe Balinese sun-beds, chic bar, and fine-dining restaurant -- which serves unique, Greek-inspired delicacies. Sunbathers and swimmers are treated to chilled water and jasmine-scented washcloths throughout the day. A sumptuous and creative Greek breakfast -- with Greek sweets, mini-sandwiches, and Mediterranean produce -- is served poolside, and between that and the free snacks in reception, guests do not go unsatisfied. There are a food shop and stylish high-end boutique in the lobby. The spa is super zen -- all white with natural wood touches -- and has a sauna, hot tub, and steam room. The windowless gym is the one place at the hotel without spectacular views.
