Pros
- Clean, stylish rooms with comfortable beds and flat-screen TVs
- Vinyl flooring in rooms cuts down on noise from guest movement
- Pretty, contemporary bathrooms with great lighting and dual-massage showerheads
- Convenient location in trendy SoHo near subways
- Great choice of restaurants, bars, and shops in immediate neighborhood
- Free Wi-Fi and free newspapers daily
Cons
- Small rooms
- Area noise can be excessive, due both to late-night bars and daytime construction
Bottom Line
Wedged between a restaurant and a residential building on a SoHo street five minutes from both Chinatown and Little Italy, the Solita Soho Hotel is a mid-range boutique offering 42 small, clean rooms outfitted in white and black, at competitive rates for the area. The immediate area is teeming with upscale shopping options and the cheaper stores on Broadway are within easy walking distance as well; restaurants are also plentiful in the neighborhood. Because of the small size of the room and the limited space for maneuvering, most guests happy with the hotel come with an expectation of using it primarily as a place to sleep, not to spend much time.

Scene
Small, stylish hotel in hip location
The small lobby at the Solita Soho Hotel is tasteful but plain with a woven birch-bark ceiling and a bank of stainless steel elevators immediately to the right upon entry. A giant graphic photo print of the lower half of a red-lipped face is situated behind the front desk and adds a slightly avant-garde feel. Apart from a tufted leather couch near the door, there is little room for guests to sit and lounge; the hotel resembles a converted apartment building in terms of the scope of its common areas. Cher and Calvin Klein reportedly live across the street and Rihanna and a few other celebrities live nearby and have been seen by the guests.
Location
On a medium-size street In the middle of ultra-hip SoHo
The hotel is situated on Grand Street, which runs west to east through the bustling, pedestrian neighborhood of SoHo; there are countless boutiques, bars, and restaurants in the immediate area. There are five different subway lines within two blocks of the hotel at Canal Street; Union Square is a few subway stops away. Grand Street is not a wide or large street, but construction may be ongoing in the street immediately outside of the hotel. Chinatown and Little Italy both are within a five-minute walk.
Rooms
Plain, serene rooms with contemporary fixtures
The bedding in these airy rooms is white with white duvet covers; floors are gray vinyl. All rooms have a work desk with an Aeron-style chair, reading lamps, an iron, a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with cable, an in-room safe, and a coffeemaker. There is little room to maneuver around beds, though the rooms have average-size black lacquered wood standalone closets. Bathrooms feature handsome slate-gray panel tiles, dual-massage showerheads, a mirror surrounded by a ring light, and square ceramic sinks set on stainless-steel vanities. Rooms and bathrooms are both on the small side, and rooms have tasteful pull-curtains that do not serve as black-out shades.
Features
Delivery from nearby restaurants, valet parking, and partnership with nearby gym
The hotel has a partnership with two nearby restaurants, one offering French fare and the other nouveau American cuisine; food can be ordered through the front desk and delivered to the room. The property offers valet parking, and it also has an arrangement with the local NY Sports Club where guests can can get a day pass for a low rate.
