Bottom Line

The 154-room Novotel Nha Trang is a four-pearl option located on the main beachfront road in Nha Trang. The beach is right across the street, and there are multiple restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. The rooms are contemporary, if a bit corporate, and all have furnished balconies (many with exceptional sea views). The buffet restaurant gets good marks from previous guests and there are bars in the lobby and by the pool. The latter is small and often shaded, but it offers nice views of the city and sea. There's also a spa and fitness center. Travelers looking to save a few bucks might consider Green World Hotel Nha Trang, which is a five-minute walk from the sand and serves a free breakfast.

Scene

Modern high-rise hotel with name-brand status draws all types of travelers

This Novotel is housed in a contemporary 18-story building that stands tall in its neighborhood. Guests drive up to a steel and glass covered entrance and enter the lobby through double glass doors. The open lobby is grand, with stairs climbing up through the multi-level space. Red accent walls and stripes behind the green front desk add drama, and large windows allow in lots of natural light. The lobby bar is off to the side and is a popular hangout spot, and during our visit there was a constant stream of guests coming and going. It wasn't chaotic, but the vibe here certainly isn't staid, and the beach across the road serves as a destination for everyone throughout the day. This hotel is especially popular with couples, but it's suitable for all sorts of travelers, including families, groups, individuals, and businesspeople.

Location

Central location on main beachfront road within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and shops

This hotel is centrally located on Tran Phu Street, the main beachfront street. Its private beach area is across the road, and there are a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Keep in mind that Tran Phu Street is extremely busy and getting to the beach takes a bit of nerve. The Long Son Pagoda, Po Nagar Cham Towers, and the National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam are all about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Cam Ranh International Airport is a 45-minute drive south of the hotel.

Rooms

Spacious, modern rooms with furnished balconies -- some with exceptional sea views

Rooms are modern and spacious, with clean-lined medium-toned wood furniture, high upholstered headboards, and modern bedside lighting fixtures. Some feature neutral color palettes of gray and tan, and some have purple accents on the beds and headboards. The look is pleasant, but undeniably corporate, though we appreciate that this Novotel's interiors are up to date (which isn't always the case with this brand). All rooms have a furnished balcony, and many of these face the sea and have spectacular views -- especially at sunrise. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, safes, minibars, and electric kettles. There are additional perks in Executive Rooms and Suites detailed below, and rooms sleep up to four people (two adults and two children). Bathrooms are modern and attractive, with square above-counter sinks, updated fixtures, and rainfall showerheads. They come with hairdryers, robes and slippers, and toiletries.

Features

Buffet restaurant and bars, outdoor pool, private beach, spa, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi

There are a number of features at this hotel, most of which are on par with four-pearl offerings in the area. The Square serves international fare for all meals, including a breakfast buffet and themed dinners some nights. The space is colorful and bright, with red lighting fixtures and seat cushions and bold yellow blinds. There's also a bar in the lobby with cushy seating and another out by the pool on the third floor.

The outdoor pool on the third floor is small, but it offers beautiful views. Cushioned loungers are lined up on one side of the wooden deck, and potted plants line two other sides with the sea visible in the distance. A bar in the corner serves drinks and snacks. Cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas are available for guests on the beach. The full-service spa offers a variety of treatments and also has a sauna and hammam. The fitness center has a nice selection of cardio and weight-training equipment with a flat-screen TV for entertainment.

Those staying in Executive category rooms receive a free breakfast plus additional perks like late check-out and limited free laundry services. A desk in the lobby offers computers for guests to use. Events spaces accommodate both leisure and business gatherings, including weddings. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
