The 240-room Melia Orlando Suite Hotel at Celebration is an upscale, family-friendly, all suite hotel conveniently located near the interstate and a short drive from the Disney theme parks. Tourists and business travelers are drawn here for the spacious suites (formerly condos) with full kitchens, living and dining areas, and furnished balconies; all suites have a high-end feel. A circular outdoor pool -- with an island in the middle -- is at the heart of the property; guests can sunbathe on one of the many loungers or soak in the hot tub. There's a poolside bar plus a restaurant serving French Mediterranean and American cuisine. A free shuttle connects guests to the theme parks, but there's an unavoidable resort fee tacked onto the room. Another option to consider is the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate, which includes a lazy river, among other pool features.
Scene
Upscale, all-suite property with Spanish flair and modern art accents
The Melia Orlando Suite Hotel at Celebration is a former condo complex turned stylish hotel, with high-end amenities and an upscale feel. The hotel has more character than many large complexes in the area, with an attention to art including a striking reproduction of Mona Lisa's face in the lobby and large-scale murals on each floor. From the outside, the hotel is clean and modern with a nod to Art Deco style. The pool is large and beautifully landscaped, with a central island where guests can bake on the sunbeds or soak in the hot tub. On Saturday evenings, there's live poolside entertainment. The Melia has a Spanish feel, with Spanish and Latin American wine lists, sangria, tapas, and Mediterranean and American menu selections. This property attracts both leisure travelers and business travelers with its spacious suites and refined style compared to many nearby competitors.
Location
Well-located for business travelers and tourists, near the interstate, but in a quiet spot
The Melia Orlando Suite Hotel at Celebration is conveniently located for both business travelers and tourists, in an area surrounded by resorts and hotels. Although the main road runs past the property, the hotel itself is set down a quiet road that gives it a secluded feel. A car is necessary for exploring the area, as there are no public transportation options, though the hotel does offer a free shuttle to theme parks. The Celebration Golf Club is five-minutes away by car. Walt Disney World is two and a half miles from the hotel, or a five-minute drive. SeaWorld is 12 minutes away, and Universal Orlando is 20 minutes by car. The Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets are a 15-minute drive, and Orlando International Airport is a 24-minute drive away.
Rooms
Suites with full kitchens and furnished balconies, king beds, and spacious modern bathrooms
The Melia Orlando Suite Hotel at Celebration offers suites in a variety of configurations. The suites feel like full-sized apartments (they used to be condos) and offer king platform beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, large closets, and sizable work stations. Decor is simple, with white walls and wall-to-wall carpeting plus the occasional red or blue accent. Suites have seating areas with leather couches and sofa beds. Kitchens are full-sized with stainless steel appliances that include dishwashers, microwaves, and four-burner cooktops, but no ovens. Cabinets are stocked with pots, pans, dishware, and utensils. Other amenities include flat-screen TVs with cable, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, toiletries, iPod docks, and two free bottles of water per day. Furnished balconies are a nice touch; some overlook the pool -- but light sleepers should be aware that pool view rooms can be noisier. Bathrooms are spacious, with walk-in shower stalls; some come with soaking tubs, as well.
