The property consists of two-story, bunker-like cement buildings with a generic 1970s look to them. At various points throughout the grounds, which admittedly offer spectacular views of Lake Powell and the surrounding canyons, one might be forgiven for believing the walkways belong to a corporate park. The interiors are equally aseptic and factory-like, but this is somewhat offset by southwestern decor that includes Native American-themed art alongside large framed photographs of the regional landscape. Some visitors have commented favorably on the extensive recycling effort put forth by the property; trash cans in rooms and common areas have recycling sections.

The property is situated directly on Lake Powell, a man-made lake created in the 1960s when Glen Canyon Dam corralled the waters of the Colorado River. The surrounding area is replete with red-rock canyons. Guests can walk to the lake via a number of different paths, some of which are quite steep. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from the town of Page, and about the same distance from the Page Airport. The eastern part of the Grand Canyon is a two hour drive away.

The rooms have wall-to-wall carpeting that may well date back decades and there is virtually no attempt at decor in the Lake Powell Resort's unabashedly generic rooms. All rooms have balconies, some with striking lake views, as well as reportedly comfortable beds. There are no elevators, but there are alter-abled rooms on the ground floor. Rooms come with mini-fridges, microwaves, air-conditioning, and capsule-style coffeemakers. Bathrooms are as simple as the rooms, and have soap and lotion dispensers instead of individual toiletries.

Boat tours and boat rentals are available from the hotel. There are two outdoor pools on site, the larger of which has an adjacent whirlpool and bar. Some visitors have commented that the pools get overcrowded with children, especially in the high season. On-site dining options include the Driftwood Lounge, a circular, wood-paneled restaurant with breathtaking lake views, and Latitude 37, a floating restaurant with docking points for boaters wishing to take a break from their activities. Wi-Fi is free, but it's only available in the lobby and the Driftwood Lounge.
