A golfer’s paradise, with four championship courses on 900 acres of land, the Innisbrook is an older but renowned golf resort that hosts PGA tournaments every year. The expansive and beautiful grounds and wide list of amenities are the biggest draw here, including several great pools and a lovely full-service spa, though the interiors are less impressive. The building is dated, with lackluster decor that shows its age, though is well maintained and clean. The lobby is elegant, if a bit bland, with hardwood floors and several couches and armchairs surrounding wooden coffee tables. Details such as a vintage rotary phone and Persian-style rugs give the space a touch of the Old World. All other interiors, such as the restaurants and shops, are also very traditional and a bit generic.

The resort primarily attracts golfers with its highly ranked courses, but a wealth of activities for kids and suites with kitchenettes attract many families as well. Kids will likely get a kick out of the large Loch Ness Monster Pool, waterslides, mini golf, and playground, and non-golfing adults can relax at the spa or take advantage of the multiple tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts as well as a spacious modern gym or even some fishing at the onsite lakes. The amenities are impressive, though the obligatory resort fee is not and some guests feel nickel and dimed. Overall the atmosphere is relaxed and family-oriented.

The Innisbrook resort is located on 900 acres of land in a quiet residential area of Florida’s Palm Harbor. It is close to Highway 19, and though there’s not much within walking distance, there are several restaurants and shops a short drive away. There is a shuttle (included in the obligatory resort fee) that goes around the resort, as well as shuttling guests to the nearby Honeymoon Island Beaches (15-minute drive). Tampa is 25 miles away and St. Petersburg is 27 miles away from the resort.

Rooms and suites at the Innisbrook vary in both size and decor, with some units being more recently renovated than others. Decor can be dated and a bit bland and dated, though rooms are clean and comfortable enough, bedecked in soft neutral colors like grays and creams with subtle tropical flavors in the form of palm tree prints on walls and pillows. The standard rooms start at 300 square feet and their bathrooms can feel a bit tight. These rooms lack fridges or microwaves, but are equipped with the standard conveniences including flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, work desks, and free Wi-Fi. Suites are much larger, with fully equipped kitchenettes packed with modern appliances and kitchenware, as well as living rooms and dining areas. Most have lovely balconies or patios overlooking the golf course or lawns.

For non-golfers, there are a multitude of other amenities and activities offered by the resort, including 11 tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball and beach volleyball courts, lakes for fishing, and bikes (including tandem and surrey bikes) available for rent. The hotel has a modern fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the grounds and regularly offers pilates and spinning sessions. The serene Indaba Spa and Salon offers a wide list of treatments, and has steam rooms, whirlpool baths, and even a meditation labyrinth.

The resort’s six pools are a family favorite, especially the Loch Ness Monster Pool with sand beach areas, two waterslides, and a waterfall. There’s plenty of space to relax on lounge chairs circling the pools, and multiple options for soaking and swimming, including plunge pools with bubbling jets.

A free shuttle service is provided to ferry guests across the expansive grounds. There is also a free shuttle that goes to the Honeymoon Island beaches, which are eight miles away (a 15-minute drive).

Four highly ranked golf courses make the Innisbrook a renowned golf resort and host to annual PGA tournaments and the Valspar Championship. There are three clubhouses that include restaurants and pro shops. Golf clinics are also available.

Five restaurants on-site include a classic steakhouse, the Market Salamander Grille serving standard American dishes, a sports bar, pub, as well as poolside options. There is also a market that sells various foods, snacks, and wine. Though dining options are varied and tasty, the restaurants are pricey and service can be a hit or miss.
