It’s all about the flat, sandy beach at Grand Panama Beach Resort, an upper-middle-range property on Panama City Beach’s popular strip. The property has 150 condo units with full kitchens, and some have gulf views, but as is often the case with individually owned condo properties, there's variation among the units, and some of the furnishings, including tube-style TVs and worn couches, are dated. Facilities include two outdoor pools and an outdoor bar. The property has two towers, and guests recommend requesting rooms in the beachfront tower. The location may be a bit too near the partying spring breakers for some, so travelers looking for a quieter locale should check out Splash Resort Condominiums, an upper-middle-range property on the West end of the strip with such family-fun features as a lazy river and mini bowling alley. k
Scene
Two-tower condo complex with two pool areas
Rooms at Grand Panama Beach Resort are divided between two beige towers -- one beachfront tower and one across the street from the beach with a sky-bridge walkway connecting the two. Each tower has a pool area -- the beachfront pool is the more picturesque of the two -- with lounge chairs where guests, a mix of families and couples, can take in views of the palm trees and waters of the Gulf. There’s also small outdoor bar where guests sip drinks by the white, sandy beach.
Location
Beachfront location on the strip
The hotel is located on the Gulf,
and one of the towers is on the beach while the other is across Front
Beach Road. The area can get flooded with spring
breakers. Plenty of restaurants, including Pineapple Willy’s, Hammerhead Fred’s, and Spinnaker Beach Club, are within a 10-minute drive of the property. It’s less than
a 10-minute drive to Hombre Gulf Club, Northwest Florida Beaches International
Beaches Airport is about a half-hour drive.
Rooms
Condo units with range of furnishings and amenities
The property has privately owned condos with full kitchens and a range of home-style decor. The units we saw had a range of cozy furnishings, including floral bedspreads, ceiling fans, and bunk beds, but some of the furnishings are dated. Guests have complained that some of the couches are worn, and that some of the units have tube-style TVs. The kitchens we visited had washers/dryers, refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, coffee machines, and toasters, while the bathrooms were tiled and stocked with towels and washcloths, but guests should be aware that they might be charged a fee for makeup stains on towels. Amenities such as Wi-Fi and kitchenware can vary per unit. Guests recommend requesting rooms in the beachfront tower, which have large balconies and gorgeous gulf views. A four-bedroom, three-bedroom penthouse is available with a gulf-view balcony.
