The feel throughout the hotel is of an opulent event hall whose glory days have passed. A wood-paneled dining room with a full horizontal ceiling skylight, sconce lighting, and 60s-model furniture gives off a decidedly retro feel, though the decor isn’t consistent enough to be stylish per se. However, the lobby and dining hall are ample, with plenty of leather-upholstered chairs and festive touches like a small wrought-iron statuette of the Eiffel Tower, baskets of orchids, and framed Matisse posters.

The Montparnasse neighborhood combines proximity to a number of Metro lines with a plethora of shopping options, supermarkets, movie theaters, and restaurants, as well as excellent access to Right Bank attractions. The nearest set of Metro lines are contained within the Tour Montparnasse itself, which is exactly one block away. Private shuttles run hourly to and from Charles de Gaulle airport from the Montparnasse train station (this takes about an hour), which is a seven-minute walk from the hotel.

An overall aesthetic is lacking in many of the rooms, but they are handsome, if plain, nevertheless. Some rooms have moulding, brass bed frames, and heavy chintz curtains; others have dated patterned bedspreads. Furniture is vaguely in keeping with 18th-century aesthetic lines, and there are a few historically related framed prints on the walls. All have medium, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs with satellite reception, bathrobes and slippers, hair dryers, minibars, safes, and air-conditioning. Smaller rooms have stall showers; larger ones have bathtubs. Smoking is permitted in some rooms.

A separate room off the lobby houses two computers (one with a qwerty keyboard) with internet access, and two accompanying printers for public use (but use of it requires a fee). There is also a small bar in the lobby, adjoining parking for a hefty daily fee, and room service available.
