Hotel du Continent

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The Hotel du Continent is a three-pearl, design-centric property in the 1st Arrondissement near the metro and the Tuileries Gardens. Its 25 rooms feature flamboyant, continent-themed decor by designer Christian Lacroix, along with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. Guests are either exhilarated or exhausted by the dramatic interiors, and some rooms are so petite to border on claustrophobic. A continental breakfast is served, for a fee, and there's an honesty bar, but no full restaurant or fitness facilities. For a less flashy boutique hotel in the same neighborhood, travelers may want to consider the Hotel Costes.

2

Hôtel Le Pradey

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

This 28-room, upscale boutique hotel is in a prime 1st Arrondissement spot in central Paris, a block from the Tuileries Gardens and a six-minute walk from the Louvre. This hotel does urban chic with an artful, vintage twist, and each room comes with modern comforts such as minibar free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. Suites offer more room to spread out, though Authentic Rooms are unsurprisingly compact. The hotel offers two types of breakfast -- a continental option and a buffet with hot and cold options in the unique cellar -- though neither are included with bookings, and there is an honor bar and cozy library lounge above the lobby. Guests looking for an equally stylish hotel with an on-site bar may want to consider Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre.

3

Hotel Royal Saint-Honore

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The 72-room Hotel Royal Saint-Honore is a mid-range property conveniently situated on the prestigious shopping street it takes its name from, Rue Saint-Honore, and a short walk away from several top sights such as the Louvre Museum. The rooms (and two-room Suites) are modestly elegant and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, small desks, and marble bathrooms. There's a decent French restaurant with red walls and mahogany furniture, as well as a breakfast room. Meetings facilities and a business corner round out the amenities here, and though Wi-Fi is free, high-speed Internet costs extra. It's one of the best-priced options in this incredibly popular area, along with the Hotel Britannique.

4

Hotel Britannique

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The Hotel Britannique is a charming, mid-range boutique hotel with a classic English decor in the heart of Paris. Its enviable location in the 1st arrondissement is within walking distance of fantastic dining options, along with major attractions like the Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral. Its 39 rooms, draped in red, have a decidedly romantic vibe. There aren't many features to speak of at this small hotel, but it's a good value given its quaint atmosphere and location. Guests can opt for the breakfast buffet for a fee. Rates tend to be a little cheaper around the corner at the more contemporary Hotel Louvre Rivoli, but it lacks Hotel Britannique's homey appeal.

5

Hotel Gramont Opera

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The 25-room Hotel Gramont Opera Paris is conveniently located within walking distance of a number of traditional attractions in Paris; the Louvre, Les Halles, and the Jardin des Tuileries are all within a 20-minute walk. As such, it is a popular tourist spot, despite slightly small rooms (though small rooms are common in Paris). Rooms are stylish and serene, with contemporary toile wallpaper, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, and minibars, but some guests have noted signs of wear and tear. The Metro is nearby and Wi-Fi is free (but spotty).

Hotel Crayon By Elegancia

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The quirky and aptly named Hotel Crayon by Elegancia is a three-pearl boutique-style property in the historic first arrondissement, within walking distance of the Louvre and the Palais-Royal. The hotel, reminiscent of an artist's guest house, is vibrantly colorful and playful. Its 26 rooms, while small, have a fresh whimsical style that mixes retro and modern decor. Rooms come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, perfume diffusers that allow guests to choose the room's scent, and free Wi-Fi. Travelers seeking a more traditional hotel might want to compare rates at the Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne -- about a 10-minute walk from Hotel Crayon.

7

Hotel du Lion d’Or Louvre

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

This 26-room basic but contemporary hotel is a stand-out choice for two reasons: reasonable room rates, and the location! The property is situated in the prime 1st arrondissement of Paris, within steps of Le Louvre and Tuileries Gardens; guests will be hard-pressed to find a more affordable option in this area. Though hotel itself certainly falls into the budget category, it's more modern than some may expect. Rooms are small and lack big hotel amenities, and some show wear and tear (we spotted a small hole in one wall), but they have fresh bedding, flat-screen TVs, small desks, and up-to-date bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi is available, sometimes, and a small business area can assist when it's down (which is often). For more living space, the hotel does offer apartments (studio, large flat and duplex size) that come with lounge/dining areas and full kitchens. This section of the hotel does not have an elevator so be prepared to climb.

8

Tiquetonne

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The budget-friendly Hotel Tiquetonne has 45 simple, homey rooms at shockingly low prices. A few blocks north of Les Halles on a pedestrian street filled with hip restaurants and boutiques, it's off the Rue Montorgueil, known for its street market. The Tiquetonne is within walking distance of three metro stations, although Etienne Marcel is the closest. The Centre Georges Pompidou and the Marais are within a 10- to 15-minute walk, as is Notre Dame Cathedral. Rooms are no-frills simple but are bright and clean. Some rooms share bathrooms (guests can use a clean, shared hallway shower for a fee), and none have TVs, but the place is comfy, and has free Wi-Fi.

9

Hotel Londres Saint-Honoré

1st and 2nd Arrondissements (Louvre and Palais Royal), Paris, Ile-de-France, France

The two-pearl Hotel Londres Saint-Honore offers travelers an affordable stay with a fantastic address in Paris’s 1st Arrondissement, just one block from the Tuileries Gardens. Its 28 guest rooms are basic, but vibrant accents make them attractive. All units have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and minibars, but lack kettles. Free Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast (for a fee) are the primary amenities. The hotel has an elevator, but accessing it requires climbing stairs. Travelers looking for a step up and don't mind spending more can check out the nearby Best Western Paris Louvre Opera, but the location isn't as good.
