Bottom Line

The 221-room Henann Lagoon Resort is an upscale property a short walk from the beach and the action in busy Station 2. With a swim-up bar, lots of loungers, and a relaxed atmosphere, the massive lagoon-style pool is the hotel’s biggest selling point. Rooms are spacious, clean, and contemporary, with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, mini-fridges, large flat-screen TVs, and electric kettles. All units have furnished balconies, and many have direct access to the pool, but there is a fee for Wi-Fi (except in suites) and the connection is spotty at best. The restaurant serves a varied international and Asian buffet and has nice outdoor seating. The spa is known for its relaxing atmosphere and romantic treatments for couples. Travelers looking to be closer to the beach may want to consider sister property Henann Garden Resort.

Scene

An upscale resort with an appealing, large pool

The four-pearl Henann Lagoon Resort is the most contemporary and upscale of all Henann properties in Boracay. Throughout, dark wood furniture with Asian influences -- such as carved-wood details and flower design -- stand out against the overall earth tone palette, and large windows bring the lush outdoors in. The lobby is spacious and airy, with a long front desk with dark wood paneling and warm LED lights, and glass doors opening onto a sunny restaurant. Wooden railings and white lattice-style ceiling details are stylish touches, while dark wood couches and large lamps with a delicate leaf design add some local charm.

A massive 13,000-square-foot lagoon-style pool takes up much of the hotel’s grounds, with many of the rooms offering direct access to the pool. Sprawling gardens allow for a quiet atmosphere, and palm trees, loungers, and umbrellas placed in small islands around the pool add to the relaxing vibe. With spacious rooms for up to five guests and such a huge pool, the hotel is popular among families, but the spa, fitness center, and meeting rooms are draws for business travelers and couples.

Location

On Boracay’s main thoroughfare, a short walk from the beach, nightlife, and dining

The hotel is centrally located in Station 2, within an easy walk of the most popular dining and nightlife areas. The location directly on Boracay’s main road allows for easy driving access to most parts of the island, but most of the island’s tourist attractions can also be reached on foot, including the D Mall, the D Talipapa, Willy’s Rock, the Holy Rosary Parish, and Club Paraw. Although not directly on the sand, guests can walk to White Beach in about five minutes, and the hotel also offers free shuttle service to its sister beachfront property Boracay Regency.

Rooms

Clean, light, and spacious rooms with contemporary decor and modern amenities

The hotel has 221 rooms, all spacious, clean, and featuring furnished balconies overlooking the pool. Annex Wing rooms are newer than Main Wing units, but all are contemporary and overall aesthetically pleasing, with a soft earth tone palette, some darker accents, sliding wooden shutters, and white or beige tiles. Deluxe Rooms are the smallest here, but at 430 square feet they’re large enough to fit a queen bed, a twin, and a small seating area with two chairs and a table. All units have large flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles, free bottled water, safes, and air-conditioning but there is a pesky fee for in-room Wi-Fi. Additionally, suites have stocked minibars, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi (although the signal is spotty at best). Bathrooms are large and upscale, with marble and granite finishes, and big mirrors. All but Deluxe and Family Rooms have a glass wall in the bathroom overlooking the room, and separate glass-enclosed showers and soaking tubs. Some rooms have direct access to the pool.

Features

A massive lagoon-style pool, a buffet restaurant, a spa, a fitness center, and meeting rooms

The massive 13,000-square-foot lagoon-style pool -- which the hotel claims is the largest in Boracay -- is the centerpiece here. Bridges, islands with loungers, umbrellas, palm trees, and a swim-up bar all make the pool appealing and relaxing, and its huge size allows for a quiet atmosphere. The swim-up bar serves drinks and small bites, and larger buffet meals are offered at Lagoon Cafe, located off the lobby and directly overlooking the pool. Kai Regency Spa has several treatment rooms as well as a sauna, a steam bath, and a whirlpool. The fitness center has large windows overlooking the grounds, and an array of modern cardio and strength-training machines. The hotel also has several fully equipped meeting rooms, a range of business services, and airport transfer service by land and sea. Free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby and in suites (there's a pesky fee to connect in the rooms). Although the Henann Lagoon Resort is not directly on the beach, there is free shuttle service to sister property Boracay Regency, which has a large beachfront area with free loungers and towels for guests.
