Scene

Hip boutique hotel with a relaxing atmosphere and a central location in Station 2

First opened in 2012, The District Boracay is one of the hippest hotels along this stretch of White Beach. The main entrance is located directly on the beach, and its glass facade with white-stone pillars and clean lines is easily recognizable among the dozens of other hotels and bars lining the shore. The hotel’s interiors are as contemporary as its exterior, with dark wooden floors that stand out against the white walls and ceilings. All-white decor makes the lobby bright and appealing, while two-story glass walls offer striking views of the sea and the towering palm trees outside. Contemporary details include a small backlit front desk with a light-colored stone accent wall, a large silver ornamental D, and three large lamps with green touches hanging from the mezzanine level. Outside, the grounds have a relaxing vibe, with small patches of grass, tall bamboo trees running along the facade, and a skinny lap pool with a whirlpool. The District draws mostly young couples and small groups of friends, but with a pool, rooms that can sleep up to four guests, and a convenient location right on the beach, the hotel is also a good pick for families.

Location

On a happening stretch of White Beach, near restaurants and bars

The hotel is located in Station 2, a lively area of White Beach, Boracay’s most famous stretch of sand. There are dozens of nightlife and dining spots within a short walk, and D Mall is located just down the street. Station 2 is the most popular area among tourists, and the immediate neighborhood -- especially the area along the beach -- can be busy and loud. Station 3, known for its varied dining options and quieter vibe, can be reached by tricycle in about 15 minutes. Attractions in Station 1, such as Willy’s Rock and the Holy Rosary Parish, are just a 15-minute walk away.

Rooms

Sunny, contemporary rooms with modern amenities and terraces

There are 48 rooms and suites at The District Boracay, and all are sunny, clean, and well-maintained, if on the small side. Dark wood headboards and storage areas, as well as black and beige long work desks, stand out against the cream-colored tile floors. Accent walls with beige flower prints add some texture. The only pops of color come from bed runners and accent pillows in some rooms (others have a subdued earth-tone palette) and copper-colored prints with small flower designs decorating the walls. All units come with flat-screen TVs and iPod docks are available on request. Other standard amenities include air-conditioning, mini-fridges stocked with drinking water, safes, and electric kettles. All rooms have a king or two queen beds, and floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto spacious terraces overlooking the pool. Some Premier Rooms have daybeds and suites have living areas with an additional beds. Ground-floor rooms have direct access to the pool. Open-plan bathrooms have rectangular sinks on black counters, and separate cabins with frosted-glass doors for the toilet and the shower areas. Note that past guests have complained of noise from nearby construction sites.

Features

Private beach lounge chairs, lap pool, two restaurants, rooftop bar, spa, and fitness center

The hotel has a couple dozen private lounge chairs on the beach, monitored by security guards who also keep hawkers at bay. There are palm trees and umbrellas for shade, and a towel service is available free of charge. The District's long, skinny lap pool features a large whirlpool and a few wooden lounge chairs with padded mats, and the atmosphere here is relaxed throughout the day. Caruso is the hotel’s Italian restaurant, located directly on the beach and popular among guests and non-guests alike. The Star Lounge is famous for its varied brunch spread, and has a rooftop bar offering wonderful sunset views. The bar can also be rented out for private events. The spa offers body and foot treatments, and the fitness center has an array cardio and strength-training machines, as well as free weights and Pilates balls. There's also a meeting room equipped with audiovisual equipment and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Guests also get free breakfast or brunch at Star Lounge and free roundtrip airport transfer services to Caticlan Airport.
