The Grand Mercure Phuket Patong is a large luxury resort that caters to a variety of traveler types, including families, business travelers, and adult tourists. The striking lobby has a high, peaked roof and eye-catching columns, all with a slight curve to them, as well as comfortable but stylish couches and chairs, some set on rockers. The bar serves the largest selection of craft beer on Phuket, in a traditionally Thai setting, with funky rattan furniture. The snack bar doesn’t just offer fruit smoothies; it’s a bonafide French patisserie. The shops sell beautiful bathing suits and jewelry, rather than cheap plastic tat found just outside the front gates. Despite the location in the bustling heart of Patong, the atmosphere here is restful, thanks in part to the layout; all rooms face the courtyard pool, rather than the street. 

The Grand Mercure Phuket Patong is in a convenient Patong location, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and excellent street-food stands. Jungceylon Shopping Mall is a three-minute walk away. Both Patong Beach and the legendary nightlife of Bangla Road are 10 minutes on foot from the property. Phuket Airport is a 50-minute drive away.

Rooms at the Grand Mercure Phuket Patong are sleek and clean, and many have private balconies, pool access, or private plunge pools. Each room is beautifully designed with a stylized Thai blossom painted behind the bed and floor-to-ceiling windows. The overall look is contemporary, with quality white duvets, pink or red fabric accents, slightly Ikea-esque wood veneer furniture and floors, as well as minimalist upholstered furniture in neutral shades such as gray, cream, or brown. Bathrooms are striking and modern, some with freestanding tubs, and others with glass shower stalls and long trough sinks. (Those expecting both separate showers and tubs, typical for true five-star properties, will only find them in higher-tier rooms.) Amenities include 40-inch flat-screen TVs with cable, minibars, and coffeemakers. Some private patios are not so private, with only a hedge separating them from the pool. All rooms face the courtyard pool rather than the street to minimize noise issues. 

The Grand Mercure Phuket Patong features a variety of interesting bars and eateries, including Craft, offering the largest beer selection on Phuket, where R&B and jazz are played. Bubbles, a spacious, relaxed Thai and Mediterranean restaurant, offers an excellent breakfast buffet (for a fee). The pool bar, Bounce, includes swim-up barstools. Chouchou is an authentic French-style patisserie and tea shop, and also serves panini. The luxurious Ryn Spa offers Thai and Western-style massage treatments and has a steam room and a sauna. Family-friendly facilities include a kids' club and a children’s pool area with a slide, and there are three lagoon-style pools for parents. Wi-Fi and parking are free.
