Bottom Line

The 76-room Melody Phuket is a three-pearl property that has a boutique-hotel vibe, with fun musical influences found throughout. Clean and contemporary rooms are accented with printed music notes on the walls, and include sofa beds and free WI-Fi. All have furnished private balconies, with some leading directly into a private area of the hotel's pool. The pool also includes a bar, shaded children's area, and plenty sun-loungers. A fresh and airy on-site restaurant is decorated with quirky artwork and serves Thai and international meals throughout the day. Unfortunately, it's a bit far to walk to the beach. There’s a busy road nearby and other buildings surrounding the hotel, so travelers looking for quiet ocean views might try Boomerang Village Resort instead.

Oyster Hotel Review

The Melody Phuket

Scene

Busy, central hotel with attractive contemporary decor and boutique style

The music-inspired interior decor in this mid-range hotel attracts couples of all ages looking for a central base with a boutique-hotel vibe. Once inside the hotel, the decor sets it apart from its competition, with musical wall art adding interest throughout the property. In the lobby area, books, magazines and a guitar are provided for guests, adding some interactive appeal for those staying here. The fresh shades of gray, warm wood, and white -- accented with flowers on occasion -- give the hotel a nice dose of personality as well. Although The Melody is set back off from the main road, guest should expect to hear traffic noise, particularly when outside at the pool area. This lively hotel is ideal for guests traveling with friends, or older children, who might appreciate the addition of a sofa bed in every room and the shaded kids' pool area.

Location

Between Kata and Karon Beaches, though it's a little too far to reach the shore on foot

The Melody’s main attraction is its proximity to Kata and Karon Beaches, though you'll likely need to hail a cab or rent a car, as it's just a bit too far for most to walk (over 15 minutes). Karon is closest, just a five-minute drive, while Kata is a seven-minute drive or an 18-minute walk for guests who prefer to explore on foot. This convenient base is ideal for visiting nearby shops and restaurants, but the hotel’s proximity to busy Patak Road might discourage some guests. The nearest city Phuket Town, with it’s pretty arcades and thriving markets, is a 32-minute drive away. For a spot of culture, the Big Buddha is 30 minutes away by car. While the resort’s on-site cafe serves meals throughout the day, there are a wide select of restaurants on Patak Road open throughout the day. Expect a drive of at least 70 minutes to Phuket International Airport, depending on traffic.

All rooms feature private balconies, with those in ground-floor Jazz Pool Access rooms leading straight into a plunge pool connected to the main pool. Some upper balconies have views of luscious green mountains and are furnished with simple white chairs. En-suite bathrooms feature large rainfall showers, marble countertops, and toiletries. Despite the busy setting, rooms do remain mostly quiet.
