The Riviera Maya Suites is a small, mid-range option popular with vacationers looking for self-catering facilities. The lobby is a bright and contemporary semi-open space with an egg-yolk yellow front desk that matches white-and-yellow chairs and sofas. From the main building, guests can make their way up to the rooftop terrace where there are two distinct sides with views out over the Mexican Caribbean. The northern section of the roof has multiple hammocks for relaxing and taking in views, while the southern section has lounge chairs. In the back of the property is a pool area with lounge chairs and a small waterfall feature. Note that the hotel is wheelchair accessible, with both ramps and an elevator. 

The Riviera Maya Suites is located in the heart of central Playa del Carmen, but slightly removed from the busiest clubs. The pedestrianized main artery of 5th Avenue is just a few feet out the front door of the main building, where there are dozens of eateries and shops. The beach is just to the south of the hotel, roughly three to five minutes away on foot. The nearest major airport is in Cancun, about a 45-minute drive up the coast. 

The Riviera Maya Suites offers 16 rooms, ranging from one-bedroom Garden Suites with thatched roofs clear up to four-bedroom Garden Villa options. Rooms are homey overall, with generic furniture and wall art, and off-white walls contrasted by soft pastel-colored accent walls behind the beds. Views are of the gardens, although it's possible to glimpse the ocean from some of the third-floor units. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, safes, and air-conditioning, as well as kitchens with stoves, toaster ovens, microwaves, and dishes. All but the entry-level Garden Suites add washers and dryers. Gas grills are available on request for use on the furnished balconies, which are complete with tables, chairs, and hammocks. Bathrooms feature walk-in showers with glass doors, hairdryers, and organic toiletries from local brand, Yuc Herbal. 

Features are limited at the Riviera Maya Suites. There's no restaurant, gym or spa, but there is a lovely (but small) pool in the back of the hotel along with a whirlpool hot tub and a handful of lounge chairs. The hotel also offers an underground parking garage for guests to use with 12 spaces. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
